its because he's being honest and speaking from the heart. whereas the tory members have to barefaced lie to people who know that they are being lied to. the liar needs to direct the conversation by force. as time goes on the lie becomes less viable, so they try to make things unpleasant so you will give up. the honest person is in no rush, no fear of where the conversation might wander. so can relax and simply respond with ease

Well said. I watch Politics Live every day and sometimes watch debates in Parliament. The arrogance of the Tories never ceases to amaze me as well as the nastiness of many of them. It is not just what they say but also the demeanour through the negative body language the men exude. The way some of them congregate on the back benches like a gang is unedifying. The Labour MPs do not do the same.

The law is pretty clear that you cannot discriminate against protected characteristics - this is the exact same guidance as literally all other historically marginalised groups. I’m a labour supporter generally, but there are Tory mps who are compassionate and worked very hard for their constituents. Unfortunately there does not appear to be any in the cabinet and for those wanting to progress they then mirror the behaviours of these muppets. There are many poor mps across all parties and the likes of John Nicholson are becoming the minority rather than the norm they should be.

John Nicholson is a first class MP. He speaks the truth and from the heart. He was excellent as ever on Politics Live today, speaking eloquently on a number of topics, including the fact he did not see his mother in the last two months of her life due to the rules under Covid prohibiting visits due to the risk of it being introduced to the respite centre where she was being looked after. Very moving. He said Johnson will receive his comeuppance- let's hope so. No-one is stupid enough to tangle with him either because he is not soft and knows what he is talking about.

What John Nicolson said is absolutely spot on with regard to Boris, GBeebies and the ‘post truth’ society we somehow have found ourselves living in. However, even if you were not to necessarily agree with what he said it is still very much the case that the manner in which he send it softly, humbly and well spoken shows the quality of the man saying it. Someone who definitely deserves to be addressed as a right honourable member of the house.

the final words there truly are touching; the kindest and most humane thing to do when someone says they're unhappy with their body is to allow them the right to choose to amend what they deem is a mistake however they feel necessary. we should be kind enough and warm enough to allow others to live their lives how they wish to live them, whether that's sleeping with the same sex, or going through the procedure of transitioning. and can i just add what an amazing interview this was from start to finish, balanced well thought-out questions and balanced, reasoned ANSWERS to those questions, and if you have watched PMQs at all over the last 5 years, you'll know getting direct reasoned answers to questions is a rare thing to see from politicians.

I went to school with Robert Jenrick, and one of the things he was really pleased with himself about was his ability to make up quotes in his course work and fool the teachers. Excellent interview. Really like John Nicholson and they lady interviewing him is wonderful in her approach. It’s interesting what he said towards the end about trans people. That nobody really worries about the issue. When I decided to come to U.K from Australia in 2013, nobody batted an eyelid about the EU. By the time I actually made the move in 2015, there was a raging debate about the EU that had been stirred up by certain people. A minority of headbangers had created a chaotic inferno of hate. The same is happening about trans people. And if these charlatans targeting trans people get their way again, who will they go after next?

French citizens just keep them on their toes, as opposed to British citizens who doff their caps and just let anyone with a posh voice walk all over them.
