The Mud Maid Suite Final August

The Mud Maid Suite ( August 2021)is a musical and emotional journey through time that tells the story of the discovery and restoration of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, in Cornwall. The music, composed and arranged by Joy Spencer, was inspired by seeing the sculpture of the Mud Maid created by Sue Hill and Pete Hill in the Woodland Walk and by reading the book The Mud Maid by author, Sandra Horn and beautifully illustrated by Karen Popham. This video presents the book The Mud Maid alongside personal photographs and video clips taken by Joy on a visit to the gardens in 2020. This work was further developed by Deal Music and Arts in 2022 with a live musical and dramatic performance, combined with a Creative Educational Project that all 7 local Primary Schools took part in.
