"He lost his head in a tornado but is doing well!" Well, we can say that's something you can't say about a human in the same situation. 😂 😭

I grew up in Flagstaff, AZ in the early 60s. Recently, I remembered the Paul Bunyan that stood in front of the Lumberjack Cafe in Flagstaff and went down the rabbit hole to find out about him. In the process I discovered your site and am working through your videos. Great job preserving the history of these giants! Is it true that the Paul Bunyan in Flagstaff was the forerunner of all the muffler men?

I think you missed a lumberjack at May Cafe (111 Louisiana Blvd SE - a 1/2 block south of Central Ave/Route 66) in Albuquerque
@AmericanGiants4 жыл бұрын
Yes we have received a bunch of feedback on that. It comes down to my definition of what a Muffler Man is and what that title means to others. Technically the Lumberjack at May Cafe didn't come from the same mold and is a different statue, however in the next video we do, we will at least give him an honorable mention!

Love the video! Why are they called muffler men?
@AmericanGiants3 жыл бұрын
A group of guys writing a book on the American Roadside back in the late 80s, kept seeing them and noticed some of them held mufflers. They started calling them Muffler Men amongst themselves and the name stuck. Years later they discovered the true history but by that point in time, they were Muffler Men for good.
