The mugals became weak and from 1719 - 1857 they were literally confined to Delhi... Bhahadur Shah 1(1707-1712 ) was the last mughal emperor who effectively had some real power outside the boundaries of delhi ... All other Mughal rulers after Bhahadur Shah 1 were just ruled Delhi..

No you are wrong ... Muhammad Shah was a Puppet Ruler under the infleunce of Sayyid Brothers, but he was never removed from power...At that point his effective control area was delhi... He was called Muhammad Shah Rangila as he ignored all state duties and patronized arts only.. Politically Muhammad Shah was one of the few emperors having a long reign after Aurangazeb, reason he was a weak puppet and nobels could what they wanted.... Muhammad Shah in no way would have give a good rule to Mughals...

During Aurangazeb's rule the Mughal princely systerm became weak.. Aurangazeb 's aging caused a lot of problems...His son's were at 60 s and grandsons's were at 40s .. So when he died his sons did not have much time to fight a war of succession and consolidate power... After Muazam's death (Bhahadur shah 1) situation detoriated and the Nobels became powerful ... From that stage The Mughal ruler became a puppet..He could not have done anything even he wished..

By then history taught in schools was apocryphal. Maratha conquered Dehli in 1757 and lost in 1761. Maratha again conquered Dehli in 1771 and lost in 1803. But Remmembered! Dehli was never part of Maratha empire. It was just a tributary for 36 years. (1757-1761)(1771-1803)=36 years
