Excellent as usual. I frequently learn something from this channel so thought I'd try to contribute something back. A shroud for any sensitive keys might be something to consider or relocate sensitive keys inside. Most people would be shocked to know how easy it is to duplicate a key from just a quick visual inspection or quick cell phone pic. UCSD actually has technology now that can duplicate a key from a ring on a table from 200 feet away. Just something to consider. Thanks again.

I know this is an old video, but it looks like maxpedition is paying attention. I just purchased this bag and they have made several adjustments similar to your modifications such as the carry handle on the back, the lower sides on the cell phone holder, and under the flap they have added weblike stitching for carrying items in that location. Awesome job. Keep safe.

Nice video with good information and great explanations. I especially like your concept of making the gear work for you. I have into issues of putting objets into elastic straps often wondering how I could make this work better for me. Of course I knew to sew or make changes, but I have yet to do so. You video has inspired me now! Thanks.

What I find useful for my EDC is a large bag or sack that I can fold or roll. It takes up a bit of space, but when I have a large amount of items I come home with it is useful to pull it out for only going on one trip from my car to my home. As well as in an Emergency Situation the fabric can be used for any makeshift items or a last ditch sleeping bag.
@AnalyticalSurvival14 жыл бұрын
@Arathyn: Exactly! Good point, and I appreciate your input. I would totally agree with you regarding first figuring out HOW the bag would be deployed, and then afterward 'building-in' the components to meet that specified purpose. Cool, my brother -- thanks for watching -- and being up this late with me (3:46AM)! Many blessings --GM

Awesome! Another thing to consider would be developing a streamlined holder of some sort, perhaps with a hard outer shell, to hold heavier items on the back side of the bag. Keep some of the weight farther in, closer to your body.

@SECRETBOL: Thanks so much, my friend! And that's an excellent question. Yes, it was somewhat difficult to find a capable tailor. Make sure you find one that specializes in tactical gear -- many don't. It took a few failed tries for us. Tactical Tailor might be a good choice for someone considering these modifications (in WA state), although I haven't researched that option. Thanks for watching, my friend! Many blessings --GM

I have watched this video over 5 times and still enjoy it. One thought about the leatherman pouch is that it might be easier to use if you angle it towards the front if the bag. And it would make it easier to access the flashlight from either side. I carry most of the same items. One item I would have added to the elastic bands is Krazy glue. It's so versatile. Is replace the scissors with it. You were a medic in the military right? I'm going to basic on Tuesday. I'm going to be a 68W in the Missouri ARNG.
@AnalyticalSurvival14 жыл бұрын
@Rocky1765: We found a local tailor who had elastic materials. Make sure you find a tailor that specializes in tactical gear, because some of the elastic material he showed us was clearly not tactical or heavy-duty AT ALL. I'm actually glad you mentioned this, because we are thinking of purchasing a professional sewing machine specifically to do these types of modifications ourselves. Hope this helps, and many blessings --GM

Fabulous. I live in Orlando, FL and so it's too hot and humid at times for heavy bags and such, besides it's too conspicuous, but breaking gear down into smaller bags is adequate. Most of us leave extra gear and larger items in our cars. I love the D.I.Y. approach of making it or modifying things to work for the user. Even in more formal situations, one can carry a few items. I tend to fill my cargo pockets with things, but in government buildings, I have to dump knives, flashlights and so on. Otherwise, small packs and messenger bags are common enough in Orlando.

@casuallytactical: Just looked the UTG Slingpack. From what I can see, aside from a few differences, the main contrast is in the price: UTG = $29/ Mongo = $120. I'm going to presume here that quality of material accounts for the price difference?? Again, I have no experience with UTG Slingpack. Just a guess.... Perhaps another individual can chime in here?

A thought to ponder for anyone making an EDC bag: how much are you going to carry your EDC versus how much is it going to sit in the seat of your car and be carried short distances (like into work, etc.). For me, my bag is more often on the seat next to me, not slung over my shoulder so I picked a bag with a flat bottom that makes it stay upright, allowing me quick and easy access into the bag. Just a thought to consider. AnalyticalSurvival, thank you for this great video. I got some ideas!
