Be sincere in your duaa and have faith that Allah is all hearing all knowing and is the best of planners. 2, Make Duaa in good times as well as in hard times. 3, Avoid insisting on a sin while expecting Allah to accept your duaa. 4, Do a lot of good deeds. 5, Do not get tired of making duaa. 6, Do not insist on a duaa that is too specific, general is better. 7, you can make Istikhara ( prayer of making decisions) multiple times. 8, pray in whatever language that is easy to you. A short genuine duaa is better than a poetic one that is not as close to your heart. These were the points I remember..

His example about insisting to marry someone even though it may not be written for them is very contradicting with the saying that every single thing that happens is by the will of Allah and that includes the dua that Allah inspires rolling out of our tongue. If it’s not meant for them then why Allah still inspires them to make that dua over and over again???
