I find it disingenuous that people like Yardley recognize how fragile life is but it’s also people like Yardley who disarmed their fellow citizens and their ability to protect themselves. These are the same people who began the moral erosion in the UK by eliminating the death penalty.

I remember sitting in work with my colleague when this came on the news. Her daughter lived in Whitehaven at the time and we were sitting across the Irish Sea in Belfast. She rang all day but couldn't get an answer and of course every thought was going through her mind. Eventually got her son-in-law hours later who let her know that Justine was in hospital as she had a miscarriage. That was the longest day ever, so God help the families of those who died and those who were injured.

I'm surprised Yardley didn't call him a misogynist like she does every other murderer she comes across.... have any of you ever in your entire life heard the word "catastrophize"? I know I haven't... ok I was wondering how she would say this guy wants "to dominate women" and she does it at 06:00

"he bailed himself out" (killing himself): That's an outsider's point of view, I doubt very much that he saw/felt it that way. Besides, he indeed had no right to decide whether the others lived or died but everyone is damn well entitled to decide that for oneself. As for justice, this is 2010 England, no death penalty; the bloke is dead, what more justice are you squeaking for??? Looks more like revenge to me, no better than what brought him to do what he did in the first place.

Britain’s last mass shooting as of November 2022. The USA has shootings like this all the time. Gun control works in Britain. It wouldn’t work in the USA where the right to bare arms is guaranteed under the second amendment. Firearms are far easier to buy, carry and shoot in the USA. I’m a Brit and used to shoot in the 80s, I’m not anti gun, but I accept most Brits want tight gun laws. Americans would never accept our laws and we wouldn’t accept theirs. Finally, Britain had 0.04 deaths per 100,000 and the USA had 3.96 per 100,000 in 2019.

Don’t listen to Rewcastles family. It was absolutely not tit for tat. Slashing another taxi drivers tyres is not tit for tat, and publicly bullying someone is not ok. He certainly didn’t deserve to meet his end the way that it happened, but for his family to say “Darren wasn’t a bully”, then go on to describe a stereotypical bully, is ridiculous. I get that they’re his family & they love him, miss him & want him to be seen in the best light. But this is slam dunk institutionalised bullying, & he could well have been charged for manslaughter had things panned out differently. Any taxi driver that would even consider fucking around with the safety of another persons cab is a sorry excuse of a human being.

@@asummerphoenix The first few victims were clearly methodical. His brother, the lawyer, and Rewcastle - he has motives to kill all of these people and sought them out, driving 60 mile round trip to execute all three of these people. After that it was all taxi drivers, because he feels they’re all against him. It’s almost as though you can see his mind unraveling in real time. He then goes completely random and just drives around the county shooting at anyone and anything.

Margie has ptsd because someone used the 'wrong' pronoun. Patty has ptsd because she had 3 busy days straight in her barista job. What is it with some people? I have been through 10 or 20 or 50 times more in my 59 years than this man ever went through. I live in Texas. I have had a gun or more of my own or available to me since I was 5. I had a horrible childhood. Victim of SA and so on. Horrible relationship for 3 years. Emotionally neglected from 5 years on. Bullied in school . Screamed at all the time by my drunk parent. Guilt tripped constantly. Blackmailed by her and my other family member. Cheated on. Lost someone I dearly lived to suicide. Lost my dad as an infant. Lost my mom at 7. Allowed to go wild as a teen. Almost murdered. Lost a friend in a horrible car wreck at 14. Had many traumas and abuses through my 20s. Deserted in my 30s by my so called best friend when I needed her most. Went through anxiety and panic attacks . Still have them. Have ptsd over several things. Some happened in my 30s. Some in my 40s. And early 50s. I have never, no matter how badly I was hurt or used or neglected or traumatized or was a victim of crime. I still have not shot anyone. No desire to. As a matter of fact I hope no one ever breaks in my house so I dont have to shoot anyone. Men are weaker than women emotionally it seems. Or maybe more prone to violence due to testosterone and pride. SMH.

In such cases very often the perpetrator will keep one bullet for himself. The decision to kill themselves is already made before they begin. So he was most probably out of bullets... aside from that last one, to liberate him from having been brought back to reality and facing the consequences.

Minor trauma? You dont need to be a Vet to have PTSD. You only need to have witnessed or experienced an event that made you fear for your life or someone else’s, made you experience terror, or have chronic toxic stress for a lengthy time. Maybe the ICD-10 is different than the DSM-V, but to say something wasn’t serious enough to lead to PTSD is incorrect. I’m not a Dr., but I question this opinion.
