Great Episode. Pity about the damage in transit. Some of the Customs guys get carried away with the inspections. Putting cameras in engines that don't start to check them for packaging. Moving cars with forklifts is also common. Love to see it running again.

@12:37 I recently saw a Brat/Brumby here stateside at the yard and I had to grab those iconic seats. There is no saving vehicles from this yard and they just get crushed. I did actually sell them to a dad who bought another BRAT from a friend as a restoration project he was doing with his son and it was nice to have them go to a good home.

14:57 I think the BRZ isn't as good as it could've been is more to do with Toyota, I remember as part of the initial joint deal Subaru could only make 1 or 10 to every 100 86"s or something like that which is why you always saw way more 86's compared to BRZ's on the road. But you're totally right, they both dropped the ball not having a turbo model.

It actually seems like a good idea to keep the damaged undertray just for international shipping. It would be annoying to install/remove just for shipping protection but with how rough and careless the treatment of this car has been I would worry that without the undertray next time the fork will go through something critical like the oil pan or a brake/fuel/oil line.

Make a shipping cradle. Two bits of 6 x 3 tube the length of the vehicle width welded to six more bits that form a large # that fits between the wheels at fork distance . have some bars that catch and cradle the tyres when lifted . If you get the spacing right you can bolt it to the underside of the vehicle and still move it , you could even add positions for wheels and a tow hitch to turn it into a trailer.

The truth "I was told unoficaly" is if it was sold with all the goodies on them it would encroached on the WRX and Celica - Supra markets and thew didn't want that. Customs holding companies here in Australia are the worst. Well the ones I've dealt with in Melbourne have been. No one gives a rats. I have seen exotic cars with fork lift damage on them that could have been avoided with just a little care from the workers. And to make a claim is just not worth the head ache. IF they accept a claim it will take many months before anything is done. They simply don't care, especially the bigger places.
