It seems that the closer The Curse of Oak Island Team gets to the treasure below the Money Pit, the more they experience major setbacks! Could this be the end of the Garden Shaft access to the Money Pit Treasure?
Tom and I are joined again by Archeologist JAMIE KOUBA to look into The Curse of Oak Island Season 11 Episode 20 "Wet and Wild". We will also show some interesting things that Tom, Henry and I found examining the crudely drawn map that JOHN EDWARDS presented last week in episode 19. Could John truly have found the location of the lost AOC??

Betsy here. Thank you, Jeff, Tom Linda, Jamie, and Jan for the recaps! Glad I finally got to watch in real time. So happy Jamie agreed to come on again and add some valuable insight to the dynamics of the water threatening DUMAS staff and how scary it was, as well as everything interesting about her project. I hope she can find time through the summer to guest host again.

It seems impossible that knowing all the history of searcher tunnels getting filled with water that the Lagina's didn't have a plan if they encountered this problem.

Yes, that is something that bothers me as well. They should have been prepared for this likely occurrence.

I would find it hard to believe there was not an emergency response plan. Such a plan, in my opinion would be needed to get permits in place. Unfortunately, having a plan does not eliminate the urgency created by the situation we witnessed or make for exciting TV (editorial license let's call it).

I just assumed it would be full of water, what have they found at that depth that wasn't ?

@@tomburns1572 Notice that they have changed from wood timbers to steel I beams at the lowest level. Maybe needed more structural strength to support the shaft? We saw that structure test assembled earlier above ground. I assume they sealed the shaft from Smith's cove when they back filled there where the crane pad was. But I think there is another shaft to somewhere else that will have to be located and pumped full of grout to seal. Crossbow bolt? When were dates when crossbows were in use and by who. I used to own a compound crossbow. Nasty weapon with 4 point broadheads. And silent!

@@tomburns1572 They need a big pump..or a big cork? But think that pump runs on 3 phase from a generator, not the rather feeble looking power line across the causeway that looks single phase. So that means the diesel fuel bill is going up!

What a shame. It makes me think they are close. It really does. They can absolutely get a bigger pump, and try to seal with their mine shaft version of Great Stuff after it clears the water and maintains a low level.

I agree. I hope they can find a way to continue this dig. The Garden Shaft has been he most exciting work in the Money Pit in my opinion.

Spoiler alert, that so called drawn map shows the island depicted with the lots subdivided, so after 1784 and the British in control of the island. The “repository bank” has already been withdrawn, accounts closed and redeposited elsewhere.

It is possible. I clearly stated all that. The book that it was drawn in was published around 1824. The Island was divided into lots 1764 so ... it wasn't drawn by a Templar in 1200. Does that mean the map is bs? No not at all. Could it have been drawn by a Freemason over seas showing other Freemasons something very important to them? Very plausible.

This may be off but in one of the first episodes something was said about old boobie traps. you need to put bags of rice, barley or oats, basically something that asborbes water in the eye of the swamp and that cut off the flood tunnels.

Yes that was a theory of dumping corn into the flood tunnel to let it swell and cut off the water flow. The problem is, as Marty has said, there has been so much digging and some dynamite used to cut off the flow, they will likely never be able to stop it now.

Hey, Jeff and Tom:Another interesting show with lots going on...John Edwards may have something with his theory.There could be major artifacts hidden around or near those key boulders of the cross, or even Tree of Life.Also, how did all those boulders get there, and from where? Must say it was great to see Jamie back and making important contributions.I have to agree with you about the so-called Curse teaser intro..should be ditched.And I can't forget about Linda and her really helpful work on the show!

If their narrator didnt incessently repeat the same information they could tell us about 10% of what they find instead of 1%.

This is true, but in Robert Clotworthy's defense, he reads the script given to him. The issue falls on the production company. We have talked about this before. The constant "look back" that they do is good for new viewers but a huge annoyance to us who watch every week.

They put red dye down a well and pumped water in and red dye came out in Smiths Cove. Where the intakes were supposedly found with a layer of coconut fiber over them.They dug down a short distance onshore and found water rushing out of a hole. If theres that much water there naturally , how/why were they able to work 100 ft down hundreds of years ago? At some point we may have to conclude that 2+2 really does equal 4.

There is a old gentleman and I dont remember his name, he did a show on Dan Browne books. He traces many churches in and around Europe. They are round Templar churches and they make up all kinds of patterns. They also talk about astrolaves and their uses back in those days. They are not quite as accurate as some methods of navigation but it was the best at that time. You can probably find it with a little research. Personally Im afraid of info overload.

Why is the stone road not seem to go in the direction to where they are digging? If they where using the stone road to bring in what they were burying wouldn't the end of the road be where they were burying it?

In my opinion, the stone road cut across the easiest place to build it. In the most useable spot to load or unload. At the end of this 20' wide by 70' long road is a "T". Go left up toward Nolan's house property. Turn Right to head to the Money Pit. Their digging has already shown this.

For some reason right in the middle of a conversation the dialog speeds up to 2x and I haven’t touch a thing. It slows back to normal also. Does it in short bursts.

Gina here. I have a funny feeling that the story of King Arthur would be interesting to look at????? I have deep feeling that the original story which I had a 100 year old copy was different. Merlin was a man that could move stones.

The "ceiling" logs they found in the Garden Shaft were found at 90 odd feet deep. And the Garden Shaft is not recorded in any of the documents that they are in possession of or know to exist, right? I keep coming back to when the Money Pit flooded the 1st time while the men were taking a break. And the 90 foot stone was found there as well. Does anyone know if they pulled the oak log platform at the 90 foot mark or was it still down there in the flooded Money Pit???? Could the Garden Shaft be the Money Pit???? I've not heard anyone go down that rabbit hole on the show.

I have asked that same question before on the podcast. Funny that I was even talking about it with a friend earlier today. If the Garden Shaft was the original money pit and after the deposit, collapsed the connecting tunnel as they made their way out? Is that plausible?

Preparing for Skinwalker. There are several reasons that a GPS signal can be blocked. Competing radio signals and electromagnetic interference from other electronic devices like radios, cell phones, and power lines. These can jam or disrupt the GPS signal. Atmospheric conditions like rain, fog, or snow that can obstruct and block the GPS signals. Physical obstructions like buildings, trees, hills, and other large objects that can block or reflect the GPS signals, causing multipath interference. GPS signal drift and loss of signal, which can occur in areas with poor satellite visibility like urban canyons, tunnels, and parking garages. I wonder about the power lines that Carl Crusher found a while back Perhaps they are causing many of the problems we are seeing at the ranch. Usually when something is "strange" it's as a result of several factors coming together at once. Perhaps the mesa as well as the power lines. And perhaps, certain weather conditions like if the air is dry. Before you can solve a problem, you must identify it and in 5 seasons, I am not sure they have. I guess if I would have to define it in a few sentences it would be batteries drain, electrical signals get lost (ie drones and GPS), and that seems to be about it. But it is silly to say it's a "worm hole" when all other possibilities (especially the power lines) haven't been exhausted. Fix the power lines and then see if there's a problem.
