I honestly don't think that the theory would be more than Matt putting all existing lore together just to tell the lazy people. Its pretty self-explanatory if you played all games and are a fan of theories (which can mean that you are at least a bit good at looore search or learned from Matt)

I just have to appreciate how Mat and Ash got to walk into this with no expectations and the expectation of logic. The ability to just laugh at and mostly shrug off the initial shock and awe because of this is great for them. When they are just as uneasy by the end as I was when I played these alone in the dark, it really speaks wonders to how unsettling the game and the atmosphere it creates is. I'm excited to see the chapters played for lots of specific puzzles and moments, but also to see how Mat makes sense of the story as he goes through it.

OMG finally I'm seeing you do Rusty Lake!! I've played their games for years and love them so much. I used to go to whatever game page with my dad and play escape games all the time. When I discovered the Rusty Lake games some time later I started playing them as they came out and was very intrigued with eveything. I got my sister into them some years later and we would spend time together playing them and bouncing ideas off each other to both solve the puzzles and try to figure out the story.

This is great, I went down a Rusty Lake rabbit hole all last summer. I’d LOVE to see you theories about this universe. It gets weirder and even more unsettling, but EVENTUALLY things start clicking into place. It was so exciting seeing Matt play through this game, even though it isn’t a very eventful one. I’ve played each game so far, with the exception of, I believe, the two latest ones due to me putting my funds elsewhere for now. I have waited years to see Matt play and analyze these games, because the lore is so extensive and deep and I have no clue how to interpret it. It’s just so cool. Hoping he continues this and sees it out. The first few games are kind of slow but once you get to Case 23, it’s insane.

Hmmm…. going off of mat’s interpretation of it being about mental illness and sh got me thinking about the time machine, specifically the formula used for it. The ingredients were things that could help with mental health, and the formula made of these things saved her. The prozac is obvious. The cactus fruit was grown from a plant that she planted and grew herself, and mental health professionals suggest taking care of a plant for people with various mental illnesses. The bird could be the same thing, but the fact that you have to release the bird makes me think that it’s metaphorical for letting something go, which generally is good for mental health, illness or not. The only thing that i’m struggling with is the mushroom, however it could just be a simple metaphor for growth??? As I said, these things combined ultimately save her. So if this is a metaphor/story about mental illness, I think that makes a lot of sense. (p.s. this play through is all the info i have on this game. if there is more info/context i’m missing, i wouldn’t know about it lol)

I would suggest a 2-player Co-Op game on steam called, The Timeless Child. It's a puzzle game across time. I think you and Steph would enjoy it. It's free and the epilogue takes about 2 hours to complete the first part of the game.
