The best theory is the katabatic (descending) wind theory, proposed by a group of hikers and guides who followed the same path with the same supplies. There is a phenomenon where, often at night, a strong wind sweeps down the side of the mountain. Here is the series of events: 1. Tent was not angled to thr gradient as it should have been. The winds began, they cut out of the tent with only what they had on. They covered it with snow to secure it and left a flashlight as a guide 2. They ran down towards the trees got cover, being struck by debris. Three died here and didn't make it down. 3. Two tried and failed to make a fire, one climbed a tree for branches. This explains burns that were found on these hikers. These two died there, one had bite marks on his knuckles from trying to stay awake. 4. Four others went to the ravine for shelter. There was a snow shelter they huddled together in which collapsed and killed them explaining why they're buried. There was evidence their bodies had been in water and frozen as the melting and freezing happened. One died while crawling in. Missing body parts are explained by animals (scavengers). Another group of hikers in Sweden died a similar way, except one survived and could explain what happened.

Some time ago the mystery was for the most part solved. They were drinking and having fun in the tent when some snow detached form the mountainside and slid on top of the tent, which caused them to slash their way out with a knife. They attempted to find a safer place now that their tent was gone, so they went to the woods. It should be noted that most of them were drunk. Some of them took off their clothes before dying because in the late stages of hypothermia, you feel hot before you lose consciousness. I think that it's a logical explanation for how they died, but the weird lights are still unexplained but it's possible if not probable that they had nothing to do with the events.
@GSP-763 жыл бұрын
That's a very plausible explanation but wasn't there discrepancies with their bodies when found? I don't remember the full story now.
@Sahtoovi3 жыл бұрын
@@GSP-76 They can for the most part be explained with wild animals and decomposition. The guy with the missing tongue had some blood in his stomach which people seem to make a much bigger deal from than it actually is, since the blood probably just came from when the tongue was detached. The blunt force trauma was probably from the weight of the snow as it did hit the tent quite hard.
@saccers3 жыл бұрын
@@Sahtoovi Wouldn't there be evidence of animal activity around the bodies? Like footprints or disturbances in the snow? Even if a large bird got to them its unlikely it landed directly on the body and never stepped off while prying eyes out. Idk for sure just throwing out possibilities.
@Sahtoovi3 жыл бұрын
@@saccers No, it was snowing a lot and it took enough time for the bodies to be discovered for any and all tracks to be covered in snow.
@ZombieSazza3 жыл бұрын
@@Sahtoovi really good explanations, thanks. For me I figured they maybe freaked out because of how the wind sounded or something natural (and explainable), the wind can sound haunting, it can even sound terrifying, and figured maybe they heard the roar of the wind and because they’re already drunk, panicked and slashed their way out their tent, and because of their inebriation and blind panic, didn’t stop to think for a minute to grab clothes or any supplies and ran out of sheer terror. Your explanation however makes a lot more sense XD

My cousin went missing in the Dyatlov pass in 1960. As a family we always said it was probably an alien abduction to give ourselves some peace of mind. I’ve never said it out loud but honestly he was an incredibly unremarkable person, aliens would have no reason to abduct him over anyone else. This video gives me more relief than the alien theory.

I've been a cop for 15 years, what I can't wrap my head around....is if you are searching for missing hikers...why bring radiation detection equipment in the first place. Radiation detection is a highly technical, highly specialized field, usually done by the military, and requires special training and equipment. It's hardly something you bring out when searching for some missing hiker kids near a mountain. We may never know. Also, a very large area around dyatlov pass was sealed closed by the government for years after the investigation, with all entry strictly forbidden. I think the government had something to do with it.

My theory is that the Government was behind it and dyatlov secretly worked for the KGB or was hired by them. Heck he even looks similar to Vladimir Lenin who led the communist Soviet party before Stalin. Russia had just given people like hikers the freedom to hike outside of places they lived in and in far places like where the dyatlov pass took place in right after Stalin died I believe. Stalins party maybe didn’t like this and therefore sent a guy like dyatlov to organize and kill the members In the dyatlov pass because the communist party knew that places far from Moscow and the main cities were bases where they operated secretly to test military stuff. One member of the dyatlov pass even wrote in her diary that she saw dyatlov acting wierd after they set camp and all rested, almost like his mood shifted instantly too a bad one.

If it weren't for the fact that two of the bodies were missing their eyes, and one was missing their tongue, I would think that the conclusion they came up with is very plausible... But I don't think any scavenging animal would eat two pairs of eyes and a tongue, and not touch anything else on the bodies. Why would an animal specifically go for those body parts? A scavenging animal is hardly going to leave anything. So the fact that the bodies, apart from those parts, were still intact, doesn't make any sense.
@trenchcoatdoggo51853 жыл бұрын
The body was most likely frozen to the bone for the animals to eat them, so they went for the eyes and tongue since it was probably still warm...
