Not at all irrelevant as it coaches the audience that the end is approaching but don't rush to conclusions about your vote for the ending. The beginning of the "please don't vote for Jasper" wishes of the cast since "where would the mystery be!"

You must see the limited production in london in the Arts Theatre. Amazing version there. No cd so just go see it if you can.
