Maybe it was the former Queen of Amazon Lily. It has been said that she died of love and craving for her Lover. I believe the Story of the D Family revolves around mayan/aztec mythology. For example the Olmec are the culture before the mayan and aztecs. What does Olmec mean? Rubber People. And the mayans believed that People were once monkeys made from Wood or Stone. Theory: Dragon was brought up by Garp and was heavily influenced in the sense of justice that his father portrayed. He then became a marine where he then met and women and fell in-love with her. She was also a marine with a strong sense of justice and was also a higher ranking marine (Vice Admiral and highest but even that's a stretch) Dragon and Luffy's mother were then sent on a mission with a squadron by the higher ups (i'd like to think the world government) and was a very sketchy mission at that. The mission then got the whole squadron killed including Luffy's mother leaving Dragon the sole survivor. Dragon then realizing that the whole mission was a setup and then the World Government covering it up Dragon suddenly finding that this was not true justice and that the World Government and the Navy are corrupt. Dragon then left the Navy and created his own group not influenced by those of the World Government then seeking out true justice and trying to rid the world of corruption. Or something along those lines anyway lol.

I think Oda is going to keep his description of Luffy’s Mom. I’d love for Luffy’s Mom to be like Luffy since Dragon is not like Luffy at all. The reason I think Oda wants to portrait Luffy’s parents as strict people because Oda wants the readers to see that Luffy gets his goofy personality from Garp. Oda has depicted Garp and Luffy in very similar ways. After the war, Garp has kinda checked out of the marines in a way. I think Garp has shown his goofy/relaxed side more and more and this parallels to Luffy’s personality.

@@zac6876 yup, been using it since I became a one piece fan and first looked into Buddhism, was in high school so was learning about the other connotation the symbol has if you reverse it... But just like the hatred the reversal of the symbol can have I feel like harmony and the positive portion of the symbol is what made me commit to Odas fisrt design. As an author he has said in the past that he thinks in world peace when he writes one piece and harmony just seems like a prerequisite for world peace.

Something bad happened to Luffy's mom, very likely relating to the world nobles. Maybe she was enslaved or killed on a whim by a celestial dragon. Something like this. This explains a)Dragon's hate towards the world nobles and his rebellion and b) Garps opinion on the world nobles (remember he called them scumbags). He also refused to become an admiral several times just to avoid taking orders directly from the Celestial Dragons. It also explains why Luffy had to be hidden on a remote island. It would also give Luffy a reason to hate the world government and join Dragon's cause.

I just looked into my Japanese manga volume 44 of One Piece and it translates as following: "Oda-sensei! I will ask seriously. Won't you ever draw Luffy's parents?" Oda: "The parents, huh. I have drawn them already. It will be in the next volume's admission. Enjoy~" (The "next volume's admission" part is kinda difficult to translate but I think the important parts are covered) Edit: This is a word by word translation by the way. I am half Japanese who can read (kinda) so I looked for the raw version of the question asked in SBS 44. The question translated asks: "Oda-sensei!! This is a serious question. Are you ever going to write/draw/include Luffy's parents?" His answer to it was: "I already drew/wrote/included them. Be excited about the next volume." Take what you want out of it, but I'm pretty sure we've already seen Luffy's mom somewhere in the previous volumes, maybe not prior to 44, but Oda's definitely included her. In his statement, I think he was referencing that Luffy's parents' information will be more introduced into the series with volume 45, hence when Garp talked about Luffy's dad. Not sure if both were included in the volume but I'd like to believe so.
