My daughter had an NDE that led my entire family to the Catholic church! She was 3yo when it happened. Our mother held her in her arms 😭😍 She also met Jesus and pointed him out as the divine mercy Jesus painting. Jesus promised her she would be healed of something at a specific time and it came true at that exact timing! It was years later and very hard to be patient and I was very skeptical but it really came to fruition. I'm still in awe. We were all atheist.

What would happen if a person was not aware of any mortal sins on their soul, but still received a negative NDE of them going to hell. What would be the proper way for them to assess that?
@FigaroHey
@FigaroHey 6 ай бұрын
Our awareness or lack of awareness does not indicate the objective existence or nonexistence of a thing. Since it's a NEAR-death experience it might be meant to help the person develop an informed and sensitive conscience.

What seems most extraordinary is that it's been verified that 80% of blind people (even those born blind) "see" during their NDE. In fact, those who were born blind see for the very first time and provide veridical data in doing so. This simply cannot be explained and shows that consciousness / the soul does indeed continue after brain death. I would also recommend Fr Robert Spitzer's talk on NDEs. Fascinating stuff!

I was waiting for this topic. Nice! I'd like to see something on people who claim knowlege of their "past lives" and claims of reincarnation in general. It's a common, if vague belief of the vaguely spiritual.

I’m just discovering this podcast, and it’s one of my favorites! I have one minor criticism of this episode though. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember hearing the possibility being mentioned that SOME of these experiences could be demonically inspired. If you did mention it then I apologize, as I was listening to this at work lol. Anyways, I’m specifically referring to the instances where people mention that the being of light they saw either directly told them or implied to them that everyone goes to the happy place. You mentioned people being less afraid of death, and I think in some instances this can be dangerous if they’re led to believe that all go to heaven and there is no such thing as sin and judgment. I’ve heard of some people recounting those types of experiences as well. This is also evidenced by the fact that many of these people end up with a New Age-y world view afterwards, which is not in accordance with Christianity. I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this, and if you’ve already addressed this then please point me to those resources as well. Keep up the great work!

I hope everyone who has listened to this fascinating episode of Jimmy's mysterious world on NDEs enjoyed this as much as I have. The possible explanation of the NDE is it is the grace of final penitence offered by the Mercy of God when a person is dying. How wonderful. I 'll buy this explanation. Thank you Jimmy and Dom.

I agree that Pluto is a planet, in fact I had a university Professor, who is legit astronomer, who complained about the IAU saying that it wasn't a planet, he said they had no good reason to say that. It was also useful having a native Greek speaker for your astronomy teacher.

What do you think of Father Spitzer using NDE stories as evangelization evidence?
@JimmyAkin
@JimmyAkin 5 жыл бұрын
I haven't read his treatment of them, but I think that there is apologetic potential in the NDE phenomenon. Too much should not be made of them, but neither should too little. They have a legitimate place in the discussion, and this place will grow if we can rigorously document cases of paranormal knowledge associated with them.

@Dave Gill Spirituality is an aspect of religion, if someone says they're spiritual but not religious, my only ascertainment is that they are a ghost. By the way, good job in your use of the English language , because you know insulting people is a way to prove your point. I'll go with my Bible on the definition of religion, as stated in James chapter 1 verses 26 and 27. www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James+1:26-27&version=RSVCE&interface=amp

@Dave Gill You sound more than just non-religious. You sound anti-religious. Which makes it hard to see how a conversation would be worth it. Also, just because NDE are not particular to a religion, does not mean a religious person using them in a collective case for their religion. Definitely does not mean it is horsesh*t

Surely the faculties of the soul operate even the brain is disabled. And how can a person see and hear things when out of the body and thereby deprived of all their senses?
@wms72
@wms72 5 ай бұрын
Because the brain isn't the source of hearing and sight. The brain is only a tool the soul uses. This is shown in healings at Lourdes, where people with still disabled eyes can see, anda person whose xray still shows a broken back can walk normally.

For me , I was watched doctors working on n my body to take out my children, they need to let me sleep during the C-Section. I heard that the machine works, like they are sucking out the blood and water. I don’t know how long I watch, maybe few minutes, then my soul flying in the air and it was dark. After awhile, there was a forced drag me into the tunnel. At the end of tunnel, there was a person doing like call me to step over the boundaries to that place, I saw a ladder on the right and peoples steps up, and on the right I saw the abyss and nobody steps down the abyss, Stood there for awhile, I heard a voice that calling me to wake up, a voice call many times and like a light, I was going back to my body and I open my eyes and I saw husband sitting next to my bed calling me This was in 1998

Hello, Roy! Your English is very good! Thanks for watching and for commenting! Jimmy Akin's Mysterious World is a show that examines mysteries using *both* reason (such as science or historical investigation) *and* faith. Since I'm a Catholic Christian, that is the faith that the show uses when doing faith-based examinations. Even if you're not Christian, though, we hope you enjoy the show and what it has to say about the mysteries from the reason (science, history) perspective--as well as what a Catholic Christian would have to say from the perspective of faith. :-)

There is one clear error in this interview. The interviewer states that dreams occur in real time, and a dream that covers five minutes of time took five minutes to occur. He does not give a source for this opinion, but I personally know it to be wrong. I once had a dream in which the phone was ringing, and I could not answer it. It was a typical frustration dream, and the phone rang many times. When I finally awoke, my phone was ringing. I answered it, only to have the person tell me I had answered it on the first ring. A long sequence of events can occur in a fraction of a second in a dream, because the entire sequence is a single thought.

Not sure if you’ll see this but I’m confused by something you said. I don’t remember the exact wording but you said something like “even if they are true it wouldn’t undermine the Christian faith” As someone who is now a catholic but used to not be, if a significant portion of NDEs are true then it absolutely would undermine the catholic faith. The sheer number of NDEs that do not jive with Christian theology is staggering. If we are to believe that they aren’t total fabrications or incredibly muddied by the brain then by the most charitable interpretation these people are being lied to by supernatural entities after they die but before they encounter Christ and judgement, which seems like an incredibly cruel thing for god to allow to happen. Thoughts?
