The Mystery of the Disappearing Railroad Spur, Seymour, Indiana, 1911

On April 11, 1911, in Seymour, Indiana, the Chicago, Terre Haute & Southeastern Railway built a spur track along the west side of the city park to Seymour Manufacturing. Four days later, it was removed overnight by local citizens. This video looks into the incident, and what led up to that night.

Worked as a conductor for the Milwaukee RR and remember delivering a car to the company. We called it the axe handle factory. This was in the late sixties early seventies.

Worked for a company that was sold and the new owner wanted a spur removed that went back to at least ww2. I thought no way the railroad would take it out. Took over 2 years but it was eventually removed. It was in an industrial area heavily used in ww2 for defense.
