To be honest, Hope diamond came from Myanmar (Burma) and had been donated in Arrnandar pagoda (Bagan)‘s one of the Buddha statues by putting on its forehead then was stolen by a French jeweller called Tavernier. Tavernier had pretended to be a Buddhist monk and stole it from. Some people said it came from India, but due to Myanmar history it came from Myanmar (Burma) actually. If ppl say that came from India then do they have any clue concerned with it? We already have it that’s why that should be one of our country’s treasure! 👌 But I think it should be only real hope diamond story in the history, not to make people confused about though. And maybe Myanmar (Burma) and Indian mines were together until continental drift. By the way, that hope diamond really had been existed in Myanmar (Burma) since Bagan Empire @ Pagan Empire (849-1297) that doesn’t mean India and Myanmar (Burma) were in the same country and working altogether in the same mine. Have you all ever heard that the most in-demand jadeite stones come from India? or the best rubies come from India? U all haven’t, but u might have already heard those things comes from Myanmar (Burma) that’s why people call it as “Treasure Land” and also “Golden Land” it has all kinda treasures in including the greatest treasures in the world like Ruby and Jade. And it’s rich at natural resources including timber, gas etc. U all know China’s 🇨🇳 still taking over our resources called Sino-Myanmar pipelines. So that hope diamond must be the one of us.

This whole entire story is not true. It makes a good story though! The true story is that the diamond was mined like any other diamond and sold to France where it was cut from it's original size to the size it is today. The Diamond was never worn by the queen. It was worn by the king. The story of the curse was made up by a jeweler to make it more interesting and valuable.

The statue in India to which this diamond belongs to, was the idol of lord Siva, the god of Destruction of Hindus. It used to be in the place of 3rd eye of lord Siva. As per Hinduism when lord Siva opens his 3rd eye it crests destruction. So some suggests that's why this a cursed diamond..

I know someone who had the diamond thrown into her lap just for a moment by that socialite at her house on "Foxhall Road", N.W. D.C. or in Georgetown upper West side. This Hope Diamojnd was in her lap for just an instant"Decades later, this kind person got a stroke and for 7 years was bedridden and passed (died). Fact. I always wondered if.......but she was never an "owner" ? It is very nice looking, but I think the African Star in London is far more beautiful - the largest yellowish gem in the World and it shows. The Hope Diamond is in the museum's gem collection where they should all be. Why take chances.

No, the Diamond does not belong to a Pagoda in Burma! The real story is on the you tube video:" Richard Kurin: History and Curse of the Hope Diamond". The diamond was mined in India and brought to France where it was cut down to 67 carats then it was stolen in the French Revolution and ended up in the hands of the Hope family which in turn sold it. It really belongs to the Smithsonian.

I have read several articles and watched the special in the Smithsonian. You should watch it. The diamond was mined in India and it was originally 115 carats. It was taken to Paris and cut down to 50 carats that it is today. The story about the curse was in a book about a yellow diamond and the Jeweler who wanted to sell the hope diamond to a very rich lady used the story in that book to embellish the story of the hope diamond. The curse is not true.

you should research again... i was born in india, and i studied this jewel. it was encarved on a godly statue, and the europeans stole it and gifted it to the queen. The gods were furious casting a curse on whoever shall wear the mysterious diamond. i know this story.... Some say its true, and some say is not..but your story in the comments makes me laugh! No jeweler would make a story about the 1600s! YES french men stole it, and then the jewel was on its way to britain. THE QUEEN wore it.

Tavernier died at the age of 84 in Moscow, not by tigers. There's no evidence of him stealing this gem from Burma. He suspected in his written journals it originated from a mine in Andhra Pradesh, India. This whole thing is so gosh darn wrong and sites nothing. What a let down :c
