Sorry to hear about the Turk turks and the one grey guinea. I bet someone snatched the turks out by the road. If you are going to get chickens, I recommend you tapping into Cassie Walker as a Chicken mentor. She has all different types of birds and can probably recommend which ones would be best to start out with. Can't wait to see Matts video on this adventure. He's getting a lot more comfortable around the animals.

Hi Matt So sorry to hear about the missing turks and guineys. There are those out there that are truly poor. Been there. Never stole food or animals for our meals. But we did hunt year round to survive. Just one year is all I made it in that situation, thanks to God. I know that's hard, impossible, to understand if you've not experienced that. And I hope you never do! But hopefully the turkeys helped another to get through this winter.

Maybe the turkeys were looking for other females and may have been taken by two legged predators? Believe there would be some type of evidence if another predator had taken them, either way, sorry they are missing (or are we really). Looks like the guineas are learning to act like proper guineas and won't be depending on their "big brothers" anymore. Hope the hole in the shed that the goats have eaten is not treated or toxic. there used to be turkeys and guineas that would come visit my grandpa n eventually he found where they lived but they always seemed to go back home so don’t give up on them if there’s a turkey in heat they could just be being Tom’s but could be possible they met their demise especially in today’s hardships!!!❤❤❤

The good thing about chickens is you can raise them with the guineas! And when the guineas get older they will lay eggs and make more guineas and raise them their selves! No more worries! Same with chickens! So yeah if I were y’all and I wanted to raise turkeys, I would put them in a separate pen away from the guineas and chickens. That’s what my grandparents did. Hey there Matt, Kyle and Shannon. We had chickens before that free ranged like Chad's birds and lost them to predator attacks. This time they have a coop and a covered run. We let them out but we stay right there. We also clipped one wing because when they weren't clipped they could fly across the yard and disappear into the field or the neighbors yard where they have a huge dog . We love our birds and have picked them up and loved them since they were babies. When we walk they will lay right in front of our feet for loving. We do not do the wormie dance tho. Sorry Ralph. Matt will be great now that he is not afraid of goats. Love you guys.❤❤❤❤❤

My thoughts on Spruce being reluctant to eat now- he’s semi confined with that new hay feeder in place. He cannot see beside him. Maybe build an awning roof in front of the shelter and move the hay feeder out some? You could put in two or three 4x4 posts, build a rectangular frame and cover it with metal sheets, attach it to the front of the shelter, at an angle to allow rain runoff. I’m anxious for y’all to put the new gate in the pen, for access to the new shed. Sorry to hear about the turkeys, and the Guinea.

It was great to see Matt coming to help! If you do get chickens, The Chicken Chic recommendations clean, washed construction sand for the coop and run. Makes cleanup quick using a long handled cat scoop. Put it in a cat scoop container and shake! Love you guys! ♥️♥️♥️

It's fun to see how Blue and her crew all have the same facial markings in spite of different coloring. Luigi is hilarious, and Spruce looks like he doesn't really need that food he's poking around. Big Mama and her littles cuddled together keeping warm, just a sweet picture.. And Hercules, of course, a lovable clown, until his "guard dog mode" comes into action. All in a days work.

If you get chickens, I would buy them from the Amish. They are already laying when you get them. I raised some from chicks and it’s not worth the wait. Barred Rocks are great layers. You can usually get them for $4 a piece.

Those Guineas had Turkeys for body guards. Now that the Turkeys are gone the Guineas are quiet so as not to attract predators.

What a relief, I am not going to lie! When you throw in those little “teases” Chad, I hope that you know that some of us get a little concerned; we love you guys and want the best for your family?! Though the other property could have been changed with some tree planting, this property is more to my liking because having open spaces and wooded ones just appeal to me, that being said, I am delighted for this new chapter for you! Happy Holidays. after watching your feeding, I had a thought, what do you think about creating a closed off area that can be opened up on Spruces feeder side for both Spruce and Hurk. And put hooks higher up on the wall inside the shelter - say 5' up or so for Hurk's food, when he isn't eating. That way Wuiggy can't get into Spruce's food or Blue and crew. (If you were even possibly considering this, don't forget underneath the hay feeder.) The other thing it seems like it might be beneficial if there was a sort of lean-to on the front of the goat shelter to extend their dry space. You also really need to get that back gate next to the feed shed put in for your benefit. I grew up on a gentleman's farm and can logically think of ways to assist in solving things that come up. Again, happy holidays, loved seeing Matt and watch all the time. Sorry about the turkeys, but I could have told you they are horrible, as a kid we were always being jumped by our Tom. We also had pigs, cows, chickens, guinees, horses, rabbits, cats, dogs, lambs, but no goats, go figure. It was a lot of work - I admire you both, imho you are doing fabulous and achieved so much.

Thanks for the update! It’s nice knowing where the remaining guineas are at now. I think it would maybe be good if the chicken have a coop to start with that you can stand up inside so you two don’t have to bend over the whole time!!! Have a great New Year’s Day!!!
