I like this comment, i feel like knowledge has become more and more secularized. Epistemology needs to be revisited and more people need to wake up to the idea that knowledge is also comprised of that which cannot be empirically observed. One of the fundamental tenets of islamic thought is that it is mandatory to believe in the "unseen" world as a part of the faith.

Plato's allegory is the most insightful story I've heard of and it perfectly describes the difference between Sufi and Salafi Islam, which is basically the difference between the more spiritual aspects of it as opposed to the more rigid and strict scriptural side of it. What really prevents people from being open to other ways of thinking that would also be quite insightful and eye-opening is the strict adherence to do dogma and scripture. It's this sort of mindset that keeps people stuck in ideological bubbles and has them interpret anything that's outside of their set of beliefs as heretical.

mysticism is still very tightly entangled with philosophy. the current popular view of mysticism is that of the new age crystal gazer. but in truth those who are intertwined with different occult practices often find themselves deeply entrenched in philosophy. some of these are the direct result of certain established paths, such as Hermeticism or Sufism . while others are simply a consequence of having a person actively trying to make sense of the world around them beyond the limits of the strictly material.

Only then can we try to understand reality .. this was and is the mistake that any person in the past and present commit... Mysticism and theology are part of western philosophy and are not illogical. There is great western esoteric movement which is really mystical in itself and is part of western philosophy. Theology never ended being part of philosophy, anyone who argues otherwise doesn't understand ether. All philosophy can be illogical and logical. It's matter of wrong vs right. Illogical philosophy is just bad philosophy. We consider western philosophy to be distinctly logical not because it's some unique trait of it but because it's objectively the best.
