The "Everybody's getting Tipsy" song is already a classic as the current version is actully a remake/re-interpretation of a song from 2004.

classic comes from generational nostalgia. i think we like reality and real conversations as opposed to the usual music psy op with a product at the end of it. Keep keepin' it real TB. Shabba !

A "Classic" is based on an overwhelming consensus of appreciation for the record over a period of time. Instead of most people saying, "I like that record," they will typically call it a "classic" ... which basically translates to one stroking their own ego by subtly saying, "I have great taste in music!"

Tony, you are right in that, absent the invention of a time machine, we simply cannot know what will be someday be remembered. All those who claim to "know" about the future can be easily shut up: I simply ask them "What are tonight's winning lottery numbers?" and they usually get silent after that.
@Harlem-Instrumental
@Harlem-Instrumental Ай бұрын
It's not that simple. You may not not know the future, but by studying the classics of different eras, you can find certain common traits of classic song/albums. Now you at least got something you shape your art around. Your current level of skills will still need to be at least great & it's still not a sure shot & even it's it becomes a classic, you may not be alive in the future to see it. SHIT! - but it is what it is...

About 1.8 million new songs are uploaded on Spotify every month on average (allegedly). Most of it is probably AI generated fake music made to defraud Spotify out of royalties. They just need to find a cheap enough click-farm to turn a profit. But still ~2 million new tracks per month. And then your release.

Listen to your videos played back at 1.5 speed let know what you think. I found this in forbes:Looking across all 170 stations, there is considerable difference across stations. WPSG (The CS Television Network) has the fastest average speaking rate of 3.09 words per second, while KXRM (Colorado Springs’ Fox affiliate) has the slowest at 1.28 words per second. Other than a small number of outliers, it can be seen that the vast majority of stations speak at around the same rate. The average across all 170 stations is 2.38 words per second, with a median of 2.43 words per second.

The cost of sampling killed classic hip hop. How I battle that is I take a sample put it in my D.A.W. then create counter melodies to that sample. A call and response and build around that. When I have something good I remove the sample and there's my beat.

One thing I can say about today's music, they will not be looking back 20 years from now saying "that was a classic." I magine 20 years from now they will look back on this era with smirks and laughter. One thing today's music does that I love is make us look back and appreciate and keep the golden era alive.

Most of those records that never caught on were horrible, but there are a few that are amazing and they just never sold well for some reason. They would have been "classics" with a little bit of luck.

"Classic" hip-hop is 80s and earlier - but Mostly 80s. The early 90s marked a kind of Second (and inferior) Golden Age, or a post-Golden Age Renaissance; it's the last period of rap that could conceivably be called Classic. Its avatars were Cypress Hill, Wu-Tang, the West Coast artists, and Beastie Boys - the sole act from the Golden Age to make the leap and flourish in the next era (albeit way off to one eccentric side). But by the late 90s, ALL rap was passe, as hip-hop by then had inundated the Mainstream, reaching a stauration point that persists (which is not to says festers) to the present. Nvertheless, standiouts from this period (Eminem, Biggie, to a lesser extent Jay Z, et. al) managed to make a few classic tracks The Aughts saw the advent and rise purely disposable rap. This is where we now stand.

I remember back in the 60's I was into music and remember it being said a record label like Columbia Records would sign about 100 new artists a year and they'd be happy if 3-5 of those groups caught on and had hits on the radio. Of those 95 that didn't have hits the record company would view them as tax write offs against the money made on the 3-5 that did make it.
@TonyBlackNYC
@TonyBlackNYC Ай бұрын
yes, the write-offs, but I'm sure they would've figured something out if they had 97 hit artists
