Nairobi Expressway
The Nairobi Expressway Project is a 27.1km road project beginning from Mlolongo through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Nairobi’s CBD to Westland’s area along Waiyaki Way. The over US $560m road project is the first major project in the Kenya to be carried out
through a PPP model.
The Nairobi Expressway will have a four-lane and six-lane dual carriageway within the existing median of Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway, and Waiyaki Way as well as 10 interchanges. The section between the Eastern and Southern bypasses will be a six-lane dual carriageway while the section from to the Eastern Bypass and that from the Southern Bypass to James Gichuru will be a four-lane dual carriageway.

PPP is the best option for insfrastructure projects especially in Africa. This not only reduce debt ceiling but also projects are completed quicker and to the highest level. Plus PPP projects are very sensible and viable as Private investors will not spend money on white elephant. Another dope video.

Here we use the same privitized highways at capital city. Has been like that for the last 15 years, as you say, it takes the toll of debt to high price proyects, and private companies get to mantain roads. Some people argue on prices but nevertheless it reduces heavily travel times through the City. Nice video as always!

It is time you went deep rural. I saw KenHa Mau Mau road videos over Murang’a and Nyeri counties and the scenery is just breathtaking. Time also to head to West Pokot, Turkana, Trans Nzoia and Nandi counties. Keep going and good luck. Let us see how the Express Way will when full operational.

Here in Melbourne we have one super cool toll road which is Privately owned and its always maintained up to date with serious technology and its not cheap but it saves a lot of travel time. The only thing they needed to do away with in Nairobi Expressway is the toll booths there are more advanced technology linked with mobile money that can avoid the long queues waiting for cars to pay.

So adding street art street lights made of the same materials which are durable and have cool colours like Christmas tree at night make more sense . Kenya is tourism oriented country.

It's amazing but why can't they develop an app where people will be paying online and QR code on the windscreen that will be scanned by the cameras to avoid congestion

It's very difficult to trace the vehicle and the owner in Kenya because there are no physical adresse of motorvehicle owners. In Kenya even some of the cars are not registered in the motor registered office. One month ago there there was a crack down on thika road they found out every 20 cars there was one that had fake numberplate that is 5% of vehicles in nairobi. I can tell u 20% are not registered in motorregister In Zimbabwe it's very difficult to drive unregistered car in Harare for two weeks because there are 5 or more traffic police car patroling on the city streets and the roads everyday, there work is only to scan the nr.plate of all moving motortraffic on the roads, they do it while they are driving behind your car, the moment they found no details or wrong details of your car they pull you a side because they have the data of all registered motor vehicles from motor registered office. You cannot even escape and drive around with an expired car insurance licence let alone unregistered and fake numberplate
