Hi Gasper- great video, I didn’t know about holding down shift/ctrl to extend selected ranges 👍 A trick I learned recently was that you can put a formula directly into the name box. Eg an Xlookup(without the = )… and it will bring you to the cell that contains the result. Something that is missing from name box also are dynamic named ranges, they are not in the drop down list but if you know the names and type them into the name box then the dynamic range will be highlighted.

Hi Martin. Yes, it is a shame about the dynamic named ranges. I Love the Xlookup trick. Thanks for sharing!

Good comments Martin. Since XLOOKUP returns a reference/range, it works. It has always worked with the INDEX and OFFSET functions too. Nice add

very instructive video. I saw a you tube tutorial where the speaker used the name box to highlight column but it also showes the number of inches that column. do you know how that was done?

Definitely learned some things. But can you give an example on being able to scroll through sheets in the name box?

Who does a 15-minute video on the "irrelevant" name box? Gasper 😁😁. Excellent video

I could have gone longer 😀

Can the name box work in the other direction i.e., if you select a cell can you capture the selected cell and maybe include the cell reference in a formula?

Hi. Thank you for sharing your knowledge all about you know. You are a really really well trained man. I loved your method and knowledge. However, I scrolled down your video list and unfortunately there are not a lot of video about excel. Can I kindly ask you to continue like this? Many thanks beforehand. Or, do you have an excel book from A to Z and is it on sale?

Hi Kamran. First of all, I want to thank you for those kind words! They do mean a lot to me. There were some issues that required my attention and I therefore hadn't posted any new content, but more is definitely coming... PS: the only book I'm featured in is Excel Insights - www.mrexcel.com/products/excel-insights/

Hello. At 15:18 you make a selection and then move from cell to cell inside that selection. That's cool but how do you do that? Can't seem to find out how. Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul. I think it's just a regular old Enter, Shift + Enter and Tab and Shift + Tab :)

Sir can you insert a symbol like beta in the name box?

And, There is one more thing regarding names that intersection propertiy. If we create names both rows and columns then we can find intersect of them like = 1:4 K:L (K1:L4). It happens thanks to gap operator between ranges ;) Besides, if we define names from selection icon, you don't need to use index and match or VLookUp or XLookUp formulas. Just use names with gap and find intersection ...bamm :)

Speaking of million rows. How the Tax Dept handle million, billion people in their database for tax. I mean, how possibly using excel, if taxpayer might be exceed the limit of the rows of excel. So they would use a different software bigger than Excel?
@ExcelOlympics2 жыл бұрын
Very likely but not for that reason as you can get around that limit with Power Pivot and also with Power Query.
