This may sound strange but I find a certain peace watching your videos. My father lost his life in the Tennessee river back in 64 a mile up river from 1st street in Chattanooga. I never got to meet him and I’ve never been to the river, I grew up in Boston. I’m a bass fisherman. Again I get a certain sense of peace watching you fish the river. Thanks.

Catfish Dave, I just sent a message to Hagen Grubbs and I thought I'd send you the same request. I'm 59 years old and I've never been fishing in the Mississippi river (or any river for that matter) because I don't know anything about dealing with the hazards a river can throw at you. A person can get in real trouble in a river real quick. I ask Mr. Grubbs if he would get with one of his buddies and put out a video on how to handle the situations a river has to offer. I've heard stories of people anchoring their boat wrong and the current taking over and sinking them. The wind, the barges, storms, anchoring, the current, the under tow, and so much more needs to be addressed in a real good, thought out, safty video. People that just watch videos and goes out on the river, not knowing what to expect can get hurt quick. Anyway, enjoy your videos, stay safe and I hope you consider the thought.

Dave, When we caught eels in the Chesapeake Bay we used a coffee can full of salt to get rid of the slime. Sand also works well

Been subscribed to his channel since it started and have learned a great deal about catfishing from him. Although I don't catfish anymore due to stenosis in my spine I still enjoy him sharing his passion with us. At times, he will make you roll on the floor with laughter. He is very much the comedian.

We've always used eel for trot lines,but what we do is Skin them and filet the sides,cut in strips about 3 inches long and Split those long Ways, THEN Put those strips in a Bowl, Add A Little Water To Some Magic Cheese Flavor Catfish Baits chunks and make a thin paste the eel soaks up That scent, Catfish Can't resist it, I've also Added The strawberry jello to some filet eel and used it for eater Size channel cats , Blues love that eel ,,

Years back I'd go to the galveston causeway and fish for eels. A small tremble hook and a bit of shrimp. Get a strike and gently bow the rod. It's feels like you're hung. Wait and after a bit the eel gets tired and releases the rocks it's in and you can reel it in. I'd toss a couple in my ice chest. By night time I'd pull one out and cut about six inches off and put it on the biggest hook I had. I catch 7 to 9 lb gaftop marine catfish all night. The best thing about the eel was the crabs can't get it off the hook.

Of course, Dave does a video promoting Eel 6 months after I get out the Eel business. Sold Live eels for 17 years, sold over 35,000 per year the last 6 years. My supplier retired.😪
