I played with no DLCs for a really long time(like, three years, actually) but I finally caved about a year ago and got La Resistance and Waking the Tiger just so I could have a little bit more to do lmao. I mostly just play with mods anyways so it never really bothered me, especially since most of the mods were total overhauls or really dumb like the Eggman Empire.

Don't have DLCs, I pretty much just play mods. Issue is, almost all mods have functions from the DLCs, so yeah. Seems like most people treat the game as if the DLCs are required content.

I was a cursed Hoi 4 player for a while. I even liked trying to play Greece with a default focus tree (why did I do that to myself). A few weeks ago, I bought La Resistance, Battle for the Bosphorus, and Death or Dishonor. While I hate paradox has so many features locked behind a paywall, dlc definitely makes the game better.

Mr. Schmittler dosen't like showing up without any DLCs because he and many other officials of the Third Reich are banned in Germany and Austria. So the actual pictures get delivered by a default DLC everybody gets outside of these countries (similar to the Poland DLC).

I went Communist, took NI in and endless war and joined France who got stomped by Germany because Stalin wouldn't help. I play hoi4 with no dlc and I swear if I see El Salvador and Guatemala starting ww2 one more friggin time ima lose it. Literally my second game ever was playing germany, decided I was going to wait a little bit to start the war, and so Salvador asks to join my faction. I go ok and let them in only for them to turn around and fight Guatemala and Guatemala joins the allies. I wanted to see the end of the war so I played until 1951 before the save file got corrupted. The one thing keeping the war from ending was the fact that the Soviets and Japanese decided they wanted to do nothing but die of attrition in siberia. Since Japan was in the allies there was no peacedeal. Japan took like two provinces in Siberia and then sat there. The Soviets were right there and kept refusing to fight. They were like this for 13 friggin years.
