Thank you! I was onboard the USS Reid (FFG-30) in 1987 when the USS Stark (FFG-31) was struck on May 17th. During Desert Storm I was stationed on the USS New Orleans (LPH-11). The Stark being hit was a very dark day for me; a sobering reality of how life is so short and frail. The loss of 37 lives is a deep loss, but THEY ARE NOT FORGOTTEN.

Pretty cool! I was onboard the USS Guam LPH-9 part of the 2MEF 4th MEB that conducted the amphibious feint under Rear Admiral LaPlante CTF156.

You are very welcome! I listened to this program and immediately thought of Gen. (ret.) Westmier's book "Covert Operations During Desert Shield." May 17, 1987 was a dark day for me, but reading the General's exert helped to at least understand. Though in peace or at war; the U.S. intelligence and Operations are always the forefront of ongoing preparations to iradicate sects that are dimetrically opposed to the way of life that gives respect to others and their views: instead of peace they are at war, instead of harboring their culture and others around them; they hate every aspect that is not theirs. They think in a way that is twisted at the highest price. Gen. Schwartzkopf Leading in Desert Storm was a blessing in operations; as many that served; to me the, the loss of those whom no one has ever even heard is worth time of thoughtful pause. Listening to Strategic Planning of the aspects of what is required for success in war is worth a Naval War College Seminar Course for 2 semesters. BRAVO ZULU SIR!
