The Navy Lark - Series 2 - Episode 3 of 27 - Bringing Back the Barge

The Navy Lark was a BBC radio comedy written by Laurie Wyman and George Evans about the crew of The Royal Navy frigate HMS Troutbridge and their mis-adventures. The show was first aired on March 29th, 1959, and ran for fifteen series until 1976 making it one of the second longest running radio programme the BBC has made. There was a spin-off film version of The Navy Lark in 1959. Please find series two split into three weeks as it so huge at 27 episodes. Unfortunately, episodes 7 & 20 have gone AWOL! Wonderful memories, of my Mum making Sunday lunch, the Navy Lark on the radio, the smell of her fabulous cooking floating out of the kitchen and through the house. Mums been gone for awhile, but I see her once again bustling round the kitchen…happy days❤

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I hope that the announcer was around long enough to realise that there was only one real star in this show....The late Ronnie Barker. Leslie Phillips' character in this was ridiculous. However, a laugh at the Senior Service , when Britannia was still ruling the waves. 👍
