@@boomshakalaka8457 the other dude is right, not true Laker fans but rather the LBJ fandom and Clutch sports media did Westbrook dirty. All season they highlighted Russ's screw ups at key moments during crunchtime in games all while not bothering to mention the 2-3 possession before those scapegoated plays where Lebron took an ill advised 3PA early in the shot clock, turned the ball over, or blew a defensive assignment (his defense hasn't been good since the last time he played in CLE). This happened numerous times throughout the season. Even I got caught up in the Westbrook hate, but when I rewatched the games BEYOND the highlights, I saw all the fuck ups that lead up to the scapegoating. Russ became LAL whipping boy and the team/organization let him down--and I'm a LAL lifer saying this

All this just makes me respect Russ more. He has always played his ass off, always balled out. The fact that his age and a smaller contract does not diminish his passion commands respect. Whatever people might say, Russ improved/ made easier Jokic's production. Being able to score at will, from anywhere on the floor is something we all know Jokic is capable of, but scoring a few easy looks, especially when playing unfavorable matchups, shouldn't get overlooked. That's what Russ does for them. Much better to feed Jokic, when his true shooting is around 65-75%, than it is for Jok to keep dishing the ball, only to see them missing more than making, every damn game. That's why I enjoy watching Russ man, he's relentless in his efforts to find an open guy. End of season, whatever happens, hopefully Russ stays (with a better contract honestly). Denver gets another backup big (the likes of Valenciunas) and a decent 3 and d player.

KD isn’t a type of player to take a lot of shots , every team after okc his FG attempts have gone down per season even with the nets . He’s a high efficient shooter that doesn’t want to take a lot of shots , it’s time to end that stupid narrative. Younger Russ was doing all the things you see here , perfect example is the steal on Kobe with the and 1 layups in the playoffs vs the lakers in 2010. This isn’t anything new , you just follow narrative and regurgitate them like it’s a fact 😂

That was a very different situation. Unless you expected Durant to take like 40 shots a game it wouldn’t make sense for Russ to be passive in the old OKC days. The team would have been genuinely worse if their second best player and 2 best scorer was taking 10-15 shots a game. Not to mention it’s not like he hogged the ball from KD. KD isn’t an aggressive scorer, KD plays passively for the most part unless he’s forced to be more aggressive or starts to get a rhythm. Having your 2 superstars both be passive when they are expected to carry a vast majority of the scoring load doesn’t sound good.

Well 3.3 million is too much for any athlete playing a game that adds no value to the rest of the world.

Too many years, the supposedly knowledgeable talking heads, have created a narrative that Russ just doesn't fit. I argue the point that its the other way around...GMs haven't done a good job of finding and acquiring the appropriate "energy" level skilled players around Russ since the OKC-Golden State debacle. Russ has matured since Rubio got in his head. Jokic will probably win another MVP with Russ as his team mate.

If Russ is so good, then why are the Lakers still losing, eh?

Those in the know know that Russ was robbed of 1st Defensive team last season. He better be on the list this season

WHEN PRESTI DRAFTED RUSS IT WAS DUEBTO HIS DEFENSIVE ABILITIES AS A PLAYER. WISHED OKC HAD A BETTER COACH TO COACH RUSS AS HIS GAME WAS UNREFINED. OKC RUSS WAS STILL BETTER THAN CURRENT RUSS, BUT RUSS JUST LACKED DISCIPLINE AND KEPT MAKING LOW IQ PLAYS. UNDER MALONE WESTBROOK'S TRUE POTENTIAL WAS UNLOCKED.
