I honestly think the true failed superteam was Kyrie, KD, and Harden. Consider everything the Nets gave up to get Harden and how incredible the team was when all 3 actually played together. But they almost never did! Only 16 games total, across most of 2020-2021 and half of 2021-2022. But between injuries and Kyrie being Kyrie, they never could. As Zach Lowe says, they were the one of the greatest “on paper” teams in recent history, but games aren’t won on paper.

That 2022 lakers was so demoralizing because it wasted valuable time that AD and Lebron have together. The second Russ was traded they coincidentally had the best record in the west after the trade deadline and got back to the west finals as the 7th seed.

@@Michael-kw1mz As a Suns fan, Im pretty happy. You dont seem to understand the handcuffs this organization had under Sarver as ownership. This guy could care less about winning and it all started back when he let Joe Johnson go to the Hawks. Last year with less than 20 games for Durant, the Suns did pretty well with him and Booker and as a Suns fan even if it doesnt work, Im happy that the new ownership at least is swinging for the fences and not trying to scrape for pennies. Same thing goes on for the other pro teams in AZ, DBacks have huge TV deals and money, but refuses to spend, Cardinals ownership is willing to spend, but dumb decisions. So yeah, finally feels good the Suns trying to get a super team for a push for a championship. Even if it means several years of mediocrity after this team is done. Why? Because this team sucked anyway before that. Did you know just a few years ago the Suns won 19 games in a whole season? So yeah, dont feel bad for the Suns fans, some are loving this.

The problem was that DMC was overused, Gentry used him as a playmaker on the offense and had a higher usage rate than Anthony Davis. Rondo was at his best only when DMC was out (cause he had the full playmaking role). Anyway I guess even with DMC, Pelicans would have lost against GSW because they had no real small forward. Etwaun Moore was playing SF but his short height was a problem. Nobody on the roster was able to stop KD

Durant Kyrie and Harden do fit the criteria of a failed superteam, because injuries stopped them from accomplishing what they should have, but people then say 2013-14 Nets were superteam. Injuries should BE THE ONLY thing that derails a superteam from winning it all. Neither was the Dwight Kobe and Nash Lakers. That would be like calling this new Warriors a superteam with CP3. People use the word 'superteam' to discredit or give credit to the teams in question whether or not they met expectations.

The Westbrook trade singlehandedly saved this last season for the Lakers. Best team in the West after the deadline and as a 7th seed, they made a deep run to the West Finals. Sure, they got swept, but that series vs Denver was very competitive. If Murray and Jokic weren't making ridiculous shots left and right, the Lakers at least should have taken 2 games. You could even argue that it was indeed winnable for Los Angeles. Still overall I'm really proud that we redeemed ourselves last deadline, and I'm actually feeling optimistic about the future. The 2012 Lakers were torn asunder by injuries, so we have no idea if it would have worked or not. A healthy non-injured Steve Nash being the guy left open off ball changes the entire dynamic of that team, like he did for the 2nd half of the season on one leg.

No offense to Andy, but most of these teams were not even super teams. The 2013 Retirement Home Nets, 2018 OKC We Need More Balls 3, the 2018 Injury Bonafide AD Boogie Pelicans, and the 2020-23 Kawhi+Backboard P Clippers were NOT super teams. None of them had the amalgamation of two bonafide superstars and one perennial all-star or star level player. The 2013 Nets was jokingly dubbed a super team despite not having a single superstar. The only true super teams of the 2010s were the 2010-2013 Heat, the 2012-13 Lakers, and the 2016-19 Warriors. Then if you want to count the 2020-2022 Nets, that would be for the 2020s. Those Nets with KD, Harden, and Irving were definitely a super team. Not the Ben Simmons version, wtf Andy lol. The 2021-22 Lakers were also a super team that failed in epic fashion in the 2020s.

Watching the underrated Nuggets sweep the overrated Lakers was so sweet to watch. I dont think Ive been so immersed into a NBA playoff like this year. JOkic and the Nuggets represented the smaller franchises that mainstream media refuses to highlight. The more they won, the more MSM got exposed for their bad takes and bias. The NBA is going in a much better direction now and the Nuggets are a great team to lead it. Teamworkd, hard work, defense, passing, unselfish, humble, post up play, etc. Rules are changing and a new era of basketball has begun. Im watchin the NBA again.

Another thing with superteams, people will fail to say that the Dennis Rodman Bulls teams were a superteam because he was an all star caliber player who helped Jordan win 3 titles, but Durant led Warriors were. To discredit Durant and to add credit to Jordans legacy.
@shaft9000
@shaft9000 11 ай бұрын
Two reasons they say that: - Neither Pippen or Rodman were the caliber of player that a franchise builds around. - Pippen wasn't even drafted by the Bulls; the Sonics traded him away for Olden Polynice (!). His potential on D didn't show much until playoffs of his 2nd yr, and consistency until his 3rd year in '89-90 = the first yr under Phil Jackson.

Bruh, Rodman was the Draymond Green of the 90s Bulls. After his great 1996 season, in 97 and 98 he was declining hard and often not starting in playoff games because of his loss of focus. Kukoc often started over him. The 90s Bulls were at no point a super team, Rodman was not a star player going into the 1995-96 season. He was a controversial maniac just about out of the league if not for the Bulls. The Bulls only traded Will Perdue for Rodman. That's it....
@chrisbg99
@chrisbg99 11 ай бұрын
@@QuestionEverything562 And it isn't like Jordan and Pippen lobbied for the trade considering almost anyone related to the Bad Boy Pistons weren't exactly their favorite people. Rodman was such a wild card and probably only Phil Jackson could have made it work with the lure of a championship. If Rodman didn't buy in he could have torpedoed the whole thing just by being a distraction, or more of one.

I will stand by this till the end of time. The 2022 Lakers WERE NOT a SUPERTEAM. Tho I expected them to win around 55-58 games, I knew they weren't a superteam. A superteam imo is like 2017 GSW, with at least 1 superstar player, at least 2 other allstar players, and at least 3 good role players. Like the Celtics aren't a superteam, even tho they have 3 allstar caliber players because Tatum isn't a superstar player (which for me is a top 10-12ish player, and someone who I believe could be the best player on a championship team).
