@@alexismansion9761 I was raised by one of the worlds most extraordinary pianists who reached greater heighs than this at this age. She wasn't at all disabled but she didn't perform publicly after the age of 18. Anyway I don't focus on the technique, dexterity or skill but the emotional connection and the feelings being expressed simply because that's what I heard from the time I was about 2 when mom got a piano at home. Lucy''s fluidity and connection to how the music makes her feel is out of this world. You can literally feel her hope joy and wonder. It affects me similar to her music teacher, I feel honored just to hear it.

I first heard Lucy playing a classical piece which was astonishing. Here we hear she is not a one trick pony playing Hoagy Carmichael. I am a musician as well musicians who connect are those who play directly from the heart. That resonates with listeners. This sweet little lady channels her heart and who she is through her playing. Maybe this is because of the other restrictions she has in expressing herself. She is absolutely pouring herself into the muse. Bless her heart.

Regardless of who we are and whatever situation we are confronted with, there is a strength and determination which lies within and if we try we can do amazing things. It will make us feel PROUD of ourselves and appreciated by those who we come in contact with. I cannot end my comment without encouraging listeners to this video to also listen to Emma Kok singing 'Voila' accompanied by Andre Rieu and his orchestra. Please find the official video (27M+ views in only the most recent 2-3 months). Andre introduces Emma to the live audience (12500) and it will explain what Emma is all about before she sings. Lucy reminds me of an Australian boy called Kyan Pennell. Kyan was neuro divergent as well and tragically died in a farm accident at 12yo. Kyan had just taught himself piano in the 7 months prior to his death. He had memorised 35 classical pieces of music. After his death his parents found the beginning of a piano composition that he had composed. He had no formal training, having learnt off KZbin and taught himself to read and write music. Since his death as a tribute to his talent a number of performers and orchestras have played arrangements of his composition. He has a KZbin channel in his memory. What a loss of talent!😢😢

Notice that most 'normal' people drastically and chronically moving their heads so violently, side-to-side, would develop in seconds 'positional vertigo,' get dizzy and fall from the chair. Lucy's brain has adapted so well that--even though totally blind and moving her head so violently without vertigo--her hands and fingers still know perfectly well where each key in the keyboard is and how to get to them. Lucy's positional awareness over and above her disabilities is the quintessential example of brain and body plasticity to adapt, survive, and even thrive. Amazing! Go Lucy!

Just like the words of this song, she has and needs the nearness of everyone around her and the piano gives her a way of communicating. I love how they added Jerome Kern's, "All The Things You Are" halfway through her recital. Lucy might not be note perfect but she has something magical going on! Something tells me she's going to get even better over time. She definitely an angel glow that lights a star.

She totally understands the tune. I mean totally, better than most. How? Is it by listening? I cannot understand how she can get it all so well. As far as I know, she cannot really communicate all that well. I am totally stunned. I cannot imagine how this is possible. I have heard a story that, when she was small someone gave her a toy keyboard to play with. And somehow, she found out by herself, how to play simple tunes she had heard.

I expect she would listen to recordings to get a feeling for the piece.
