i sat in french class for a week when we did negatif absolu and i didnt understand/ remember a thing by the way the teacher explained it. a week's lessons summed up into an extraordinarily helpful 10 minute video was just what i needed before my exam

Negative expressions The usual format for negation in french is: Ne(n’) + verb + pas Ne(n’) + verb + main negative word The negative expressions (aka the different negative words): Ne + verbe + rien - nothing (quelque chose - ne … rien) Ne + verbe + personne - no one (quelqu’un - ne … personne) Ne + verbe + jamais - never(souvent,parfois,quelquefois,toujours (adverbs of frequency - ne … jamais) Ne + verbe + plus - no more, not anymore (plus - ne … plus) Ne + verbe + pas encore Ne + verbe + aucun (e) {always in singular form, agrees in gender and number to the noun it is referring to} Ne + verbe + ça. In compound tenses such as passe compose we put “ne” before the auxiliary verb then the past participle and then the main negative word for ne personne and ne aucun(e). Example: je n’ai vu personne. But for the remaining main negative words we place them before the past participle. Exemple: je n’ai rien mangé. If the main negative pronoun is the subject the main negative word goes first, then one then the verb. Exemple: Personne ne connaît la réponse. - summary

hi! it should be 《ne.... personne》 for nobody. So if you want to say there isnt anybody, it should be 《il n'y a personne》. 😊
