I gotta say, I went through that stage where I forced myself to be happy all the time. But when I actually gave up on it, THATS when I became happy.

you are loved ajahan Bram. you have articulated what I am struggling with related to some vedantaists--- at a temple nearby. don't worry these centuries year old argument-- is an agreement to disagree or that it is unanswerable (Aveloketeshwara)

I definetly needed to hear this. This vid was a sort of godsend. I've been going through a pretty rough time the past few months, but I was trying to force myself to be happy, for the sake of people I care about and out of denial. This will certainly help me to focus on a better sense of balance.

Can I juat add though, yes if you lose your license you shouldn't be happy about it, but you can still put a positive spin on it and see the benifits and oportunities that come from a negative event, sure you shouldn't be happy about the thing that is happening but you can still put the thing that is happening into perspective.

What he talks about here is something I recognize from my own spiritual journey. During life you need to make choices and most of us are not born a master, which means that often we will make a choice, live the experience and interpret it as negative until we understand what made us look at it that way so that we can accept it, learn from it and let it go.. It's a more complicated topic as there is more involved to it then simply being OK with being negative. Negativity DOES point out that there's something you are resisting and that requires looking at. On the other hand, pushing yourself to be something you're not is also resistance. The key is to recognize the fine line in between. Another thing I've noticed is that, practicing spirituality in an enviroment that does not do it as much as you do, means that people watch how you progress. I feel like I'm making certain steps and leaps and others are curiously observing if it works out. But heck, sometimes you have to go low in order to learn the lesson. To the outside it then looks as you've strayed from the path. You need to be quite strong to just stick with yourself wether you feel positive or negative. I think that even more important than being one or the other is to always keep asking the next question. Where am I right now feeling-wise? What made me get here? You don't really need to ask what you should do about it, because resistance usually dissolves as soon as it has seen the light.

I may be looking at a 1000 dollar fine for driving while uninsured. I was upset for a brief moment but I remember what this gentleman said. "Don't wallow in the shit of life, make use of it." I thought, "It's not the end of the world, its just money. I'll make more of it." No need to get all butt-hurt as we say here in the States. Thanks for the wisdom.

it's not only money but you should have learned a lesson out of it. With the right car you'd pay $275 per year in insurance

One thing that I used to do in the past was to always vent my anger and the bad things that happen to me to the people at work. They in turn hated and disrespected me. The key for me has been to keep the bad and negate thinkgs to myself at least at work. I don't give them a reason to hate me and disrespect me.

did I ever claim that? however, I came to real spirituality exactly through that... I am not saying it's necessary and I am not saying that it can help everybody... but it helped me exactly with that in a specific combination with meditation and friends etc...

@ sahilmdh294. There is a subtlety that is important here. Being overly positive is a form of delusion that leads to more suffering. It only works when things are going right. Untrue positivity is a way of turning away from difficult truths of life. There is realistic positivity, though, and I realize that this is what you may be talking about. This allows one to move on, rather than wallow. It knows that difficulty passes.
@WhatSayestThou14 жыл бұрын
And hey lemme tell you too there are people in this world that will just NOT let you off the hook for past mistakes and all that does is just keep the emotional poison going. Negativity in stupidity, stupid people doing stupid things that don't benefit God or man-KIND as a whole. THIS is the atittude that needs to change in us ALL Namaste.
