An absolutely superb movie. Of course I must watch it again And not just because of the drop dead beauty of the actor portraying Maiko but also for the Japanese sense of yugen displayed in the film. If by chance many aren't familiar with this aesthetic concept, umm, please looki it up. Arigato

Just brilliant. Takashi Miike is the best in his unique style. When I want to watch something new and unique I select a Takashi Miike movie. Brilliant movie.

The 50th film of Takashi Miike I've watched, and I've had to watched it twice to understand how arduous and complicated are the paths of the plot. And this plot have more twists than a Christie novel. This director, when he really wants, can surprise with dramatic, dark and gloomy stories, far from his bizarre tales of fantasy; on this style I recommend his films Agitator, Sun Scarred or Shield of Straw.

Wow, a very good one. Miike oftenly surprises me. Some of his stuff is average or bad but then there are these extremely fine movies. Directing, acting, story, pacing, top notch.

今ウチのひとり息子が絶賛反抗期で毎日アタマに来ていたんだけど なんか産まれてきた日の事 思い出して 今は腹立つけど まあそれも良いかな なんて思った。 今日まで生意気言って元気な事に感謝した。 映画の内容とは少し違うけど そう思えて良かった。 とても素晴らしい映画だった。 ありがとう。

緊迫感のあるいい映画で最後までやめずに観られたましたが、警察側から連絡用に立てこもり犯に渡された携帯電話を盗聴していて、身代金ひとり三千万で手を打つかどうかの犯人たちの会話はどうみてもネイティブの日本語で、この時点でコンビニを襲った三人組とは違う、なにかおかしいと、何人か気づいてもよさそうなのに、スルーされている。現場の緊張感で皆ハイになっていて、冷静になれないのか、あるいは・・・。

映画でも小説でもこの推理の為の作りこみがきついんだよなー。創作モノなんだから仕方ないんだけど何見てもその動機造りとそれを実行する事件の有り得ない大きさが不釣り合いすぎて冷めるんだよねー。と言いながら見てるんだけどね(笑) なので実は好きな映画は事件性のないもの。トラン・アン・ユンの「夏至」とか、小津安二郎作品とか…。
