+PrZemek44 Poland & Italy had many great players too in that period. So it was a tough group. After this group phase Belgium was the next opponent. The Netherlands beat the Belgians (knock out, home and away). After that Euro 76 started in former Yugoslavia. M.

It was a Euro '76 quarterfinal. Home and away series. Netherlands won both legs 5:0 and 2:1.

I'm not 100% sure but the European Championship tournament was different back then. The qualifying matches were considered part of the tournament and happened right up to the tournament. While nowadays it is decided who goes long before the tournament takes place. Also the 1976 tournament only had four countries.

@@Carl-LaFong-7261 Ja, weet ik, het toernooi was veel kleiner van opzet. Alleen na de kwalificatiegroep kwamen de groepswinnaars wel in een knock-out, uit en thuis, en dat werd toen toch wel gezien als 'de kwartfinale'
