The game-winner against the US in the quarterfinals in Nagano 98. Beat Chelios at the boards and then skated between the circles and released his lethal wrister. Btw. the only goal he scored at the tournament.

Also, turning Kip Miller and Jan Hrdina into 50-point players and turning Petr Prucha into a 30-goal scorer.

The guy is simply a specimem. At 10 he got a little notebook where he listed all the squats and pushups he did every day. At 10, let it sink in! He used to do 1000 squats and 100 pushups every morning, if he was sick or otherwise couldnt do it, he never skipped, he made up for it in the next sessions, doing 2k instead. Show me a 10-year-old today with the same sort of willpower... I remember some GM or scout asked him if he was ever a captain of his junior team, he said no, because he was always 2 years younger than the other players. Played with men at 16. Still dominated the Czech league at 46.

My wife and I are lifelong Penguins fans. Lucky to see them win 5 cups and see some of the best hockey people have to offer. The night they finally put 68 in those rafters my wife and I both shed a few tears. We grew up watching him as kids and we both waited for that for so long. What a great hockey moment to share with her.

That's awesome that you were there for that last year- I was downtown by the arena that Sunday evening and didn't realize what the deal was w the insane number of Jagr jerseys, Jagr mullet wigs etc. Absolute legend. We are indeed very lucky to have been born Penguin fans.

I was 6 when I watched the Pens bring the Cup home for the first time against the North Stars. It was an amazing era to grow up in with the Penguins. I can still name the entire roster. They dont make em like that anymore. Jagr and Lemieux are larger than life characters. Also i find the parallel btwn Jagr and Malkin dealing w language barrier issues and needing to live with countrymen to get acclimated.

The scariest thing about jager is that he’s 2nd in points all time despite playing a huge part of his prime during the dead puck era. In the heart of that he put up 2 120+point seasons imagine what he could have done in the 80s

@36:20 '' this just reflects the kind of person jagr has always been '' .. now i forgot if it was during the olympic games or during world championships. i beleive it was during olympic games. so must have been 1998. basically i've heard stories about jagr refusing to practice with his fellow country men. he demanded his own ice time. where he would have the ice all to himself. because he was '' too good '' to practice with his fellow country men.

He should know more than "only" hockey, since he runs and owns a hockey club. One would think he is pretty well versed on the business side, with everything that includes. I doubt he has many secretaries since the team runs on a tight budget. He must surely be involved in the day-to-day running of his team and his arena. So obviously he is business savvy, and hence not only a hockey player.
