Ahh, I remember playing occasionally this with my dad when I was about 5 years old ( he was playing it and I was always watching ). We always got stuck in the Yellow house because we did not know how to open the door (the radio did not work). But some times when we opened the door (it was probably only like 2 times) we did not know what to do with the crystals. :D So basically we played it always till the yellow house hoping the door are opened. :D I really feel the nostalgia watching this video, because I remember how me and my dad used to draw the symbols on the paper so we could get forward. I remember that I always got goosebumps or I got little bit scared of the game sounds :D After about 11 years I was playing a lot of videogames and remembered about The Neverhood. At the time I still got the disc of the game and I tried to play.. of course with this video help :D For me it was a really big mind-shock what happened next (after the crystals in the Yellow house) because I had no idea what was next... Now it has been about 18 years since I have known this game.. and I really want to play it again..

The literal wall of text starting at 12:58 is in fact, readable and is not just nonsense text. It is a cohesive and fairly interesting narrative that has many parallels to the Judeo-Christian Bible. In the beginning, there was nothing except Father, who is basically God the Father, except he only creates one being, Quater. Quater, in turn, makes seven sons - Ogdilla, BertBert, Numeron, Ottoborg, Homen, Arven and (most relevant to The Neverhood game itself), Hoborg. These seven are the ones who begin creating worlds, after each receiving a crown from Quater. Homen actually got two, but it didn't go so well, so Quater took away his extra one and gave it to Arven. Within the narrative are many stories similar to those in The Bible - one parallels Noah's Ark, and another the tale of Joseph, for example. The second chapter, Bertbert's, pokes fun at the whole "A begat B, and B begat C, etc." section of Genesis by taking it to its extreme. What's more, the seven tales even link to each other in interesting ways. One story tells of a people that are accosted by a massive giant, and then another story tells the same story from the giant's perspective. The biggest reveal though, is that the tale of Arven's worlds reveals the existence of the Skullmonkeys before the Skullmonkeys game ever came out! If you want to read the whole thing without buying the game, someone took the text, dumped into a .txt file and put online. It also makes me sad that we didn't play more adventures of Klayman in those other worlds the Hall of Records tells of. If only EA hadn't lost its soul...

The Neverhood is a 1996 point-and-click adventure video game developed by the Neverhood, Inc. and published by DreamWorks Interactive for Microsoft Windows. The game follows the adventure of claymation character named Klaymen as he discovers his origins and his purpose in a world made entirely out of clay. When the game was originally released, it was unique in that all of its animation was done entirely in claymation, including all of the sets, rather than 2-or-3- dimensional computer graphics, like many other games at its time. The gameplay consists mostly of the player guiding the main character Klaymen around and solving puzzles to advance in the game. As the player advances through different areas of the game, there are various video sequences the help advance the plot. In addition to being unique, the Neverhood aimed at being quirky and humorous, as is evident by the characters, the music, and the plot sequence of the game.

As for the killing explorer to get the colour fuckups to stop, I made a little bat file, put it in the game install folder, made a short cut to the bat file on my desktop, gave it the neverhood icon, and TITS! It kills explorer, starts neverhood, and then restarts explorer when you quit the game. Not sure if the same bat will work in Winblows 7 but if you wanna give it a go: Paste this into a text doc, save as "All Files" and name with the ' .bat 'extension. @echo off TASKKILL /F /IM "explorer.exe" nhc.exe cd %windir% start explorer.exe exit

Somehow I missed this game at the time, I used to known and played a little the Skullmonkeys' game on PSOne, but just recently knew from a friend about this one on PC. To think that it came to topic because the song used in the OVERWHAT animation video from ArhyBes Studio LoL

It's awesome! I mean the design is outstanding but you have to try and play the actual game with no spoilers. It's mindblowing.
