I played Neverhood in Russian, in a pirated localization. At the beginning of the Wall, the devs were like: “Sorry, we’re not translating this much text, so we filled this wall with jokes”. And they did X) The localization was mostly inaccurate too, heh, with dev in-jokes :) Still a fun game.

I don't suppose you would have any idea where this copy is? I know it's obviously unofficial and non-canon but I think it would be interesting to preserve

I'm reading the .txt file containing the entire story. I can't believe a person sat down and actually wrote a comprehensive and actually somewhat interesting narrative that they probably thought no one was going to take the time to read in its entirety.

In the description of the giant at 5:20, I may be wrong, but are they describing Willie? Big lips, eyes, a ring, and tecknecly he has spikes, though they are on his back. Even his mannerisms, how he just smiles and stares, his love to eat, the silly things he does. Idk, maybe horgor just saw him on the planet and picked him or something. I admit, haven't finished the series so it might be stated later but oh well. It's a cool detail anyway.

You may have already learned this, but it's supposedly Aloh Al. One of Willie's brothers and as such one of Ottoborg's sons. They do sound very similar and are probably the only two sons that had an okay life after their father's planet spun apart.

I started playing The Neverhood in April of 2020, but stopped midway through the Hall of Records, since, though interesting, it’s very tiresome. I haven’t picked it up again yet, and I’m glad I didn’t because I can now just listen to this instead and proceed to the rest of the game ! Frustrating to know that, if I had just waited 2 more months to play it, I’d have found this video right away and finished the game already. Thank you :-)

Do more every time I've tried to read that damn wall I've always stopped about the same place as the video. Its not all that easy to read especially if you're dyslexic. Much easier to listen to and the words don't turn into so much mush.

seriously, matpat needs to make a theory on neverhood! It´s a certified hood classic, me on the internet guaranteed! But, we´ll wait and let matpat use his own freedom okay, maybe we could convince him on his subreddit?

The neverhood is a finished story. All of it's elements laid bare for all to see and experience. The lore walls can be skipped and the games work fine, but it's like a little gift from the devs. A theory would acomplish nothing but to read into things that aren't there, like he did with pizza tower. The neverhood deserves better than another half-hearted crackpot extrapolation from a team who barely reaserch the actual story elements of the thing they're covering.
