An inline 6 is great. Think about the slant six an icon. I would have liked to see more displacement with the turbos. Lower horse power for the truck engines with more torque. Design them for reliability don't be cheap like Ford and install a rubber belt to drive the water pump and then recall hundreds of thousands due to belt issues blocking the oil inlet tube or breaking all together. I hope they just build a reliable engine (no Displacement on command) with a reliable and easily serviced timing system, and recommend oil changes at 5000 miles not 15k. The engineers can do it, but the bean counters get the last word. The old OHV engines in the late 60s were some of the best built engines ever. If you upgraded the design with EFI (Port and GDI), High quality roller lifters, good flowing heads and higher compression you would have a bullet proof engine. Inline 6 cranks are so much easier to balance. Should last longer. Hopefully they put a higher volume oil pump to save the lifters and cam at idling unlike the current hemi.
@909Kodak8 ай бұрын
I’m sure the lifters will be fine. They will have a nice spot on a museum shelf where they belong.

Not a turbo fan,reliability should be #1 not power. Give me a non turbo version with 300hp and 350tq.The old 300ci ford sixes were an example of reliability,still powering many UPS trucks to this day!
@chasegreenbauer74149 ай бұрын
In my opinion I think an inline 6 motor is the best configuration… gas or diesel…. To be fair, my 5.7 hemi has 290,000 on it and I’ve only done spark plugs and oil changes… if this motor can be just as reliable I would buy one…. ( chances are with twin turbos probably won’t be… maybe a single turbo would be good )

RAM Trucks . Bring back the Legend. Bring back the Hemi V8 The V8 is the best engine for a RAM . And no infladet 3l My Suggestion RAM 1500 = 6.4L V8 450 HP RAM 2500/3500 = 6.2l compressor V8 530 HP RAM TRX with 6.2 V8 750 HP develop a new V8 to replace the old ones 3500

At that power level to displacement it will NEVER last 300K miles.

At the end of the day it's all about charging more for less manufacturing costs. Raw displacement will always win over technology. The inline six seems interesting but doesn't rub me the right way in a Ram.

Ironically, the turbos are better for towing applications and high altitude driving they don’t lose horsepower like naturally aspirated engines do well in high altitude and the Turbo work best while Towing

If I were you, I’d keep the 5.7 2023 Ram. It is not a complicated engine, and it is a truck that sounds like a truck. The Hurricane may have more power, but the Hemi’s power is plenty! I wouldn’t want my truck sounding like a Honda Civic😂.

Turbocharged gasoline engines are not made for heavy duty loads. There’s a reason Ford does not put the Ecoboost in their F-250 and F-350. You’d be better off with a Cummins (or the 6.4 Hemi). Turbocharged diesel engines can handle heavy loads because it does not require stress through diesel engines like gasoline ones.
