Just like my previous 05 E55 and now 16 E63S no problems and engine bulletproof. AMG ftw.

I was surprised to hear " Naturally Aspirated Engine " in 2019. Then I checked the date and this is 2011 video. Uffff

@David On First, I may be wrong. But first, you need to learn to use proper language. You can say it in a decent manner. This is a big problem with automobile fans, they argue on specifications and performance and other things, while in reality they won't be in a position to buy atleast a 10000$ car. And next, just check the date of upload, I don't think upload date can be edited. The video may not be shot in 2011 as it says naturally aspirated engine, I knew it's original video shoot' time period is not 2011, they might have shot it long back, but it has to be uploaded one day, and they uploaded it in 2011. But I just got a little excited when I heard the word " Naturally Aspirated engine " in a video that I opened in 2019, as I didn't check it's upload date first. That's it.

Ok just for those who don't know. This is not forced induction, this engine is NA. It powers the newest slk55, they didnt wanna drop a 6.2 liter in there and outsell the rest of their product line.And certainly werent putting the 5.5 biturbo in it. This is the successor to the 5.4l NA m113 V8 thats been in the clk55, c55 and older model slk55.

I think AMG is thinking of a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 for its next C class AMG. There still a chance this particular engine to be used in the W205 C class, but with a higher state of tune to match or exceed the current C63

so impressive 398ft/lbs and 28 mpg, this engine deserves more feature than just being put in the low production SLK55. Probably wont be put in the c63 because it will never live up to the C63 6.3 v8 with 518 HP

This is the M152 incarnation of the M278 platform. I would lov to see this engine develop further to >500HP in NA form. That would be killer! I know Mercedes could do it; the engine has plenty of technology to make it happen. But likely, emissions regulations may squelch that dream.

The engine is a dry sump design (see at the begin when they run the engine upside down) so the oil pump's not in the sump.

This 5.5 is not replacing the 5.5 bi turbo, This model will be used in some of the smaller cars like a slk 55 AMG GL 55 CLK 55

the Engine develops `only` 420HP, my SKL 55 R152 drinks about 10-12L/100KM

Ja ich weiß, ich kenne die Vor/Nachteile von 2 und 4-Ventil Motoren und sonstigen Schnickschnack. Verbrennungsmotoren waren Hauptbestandteil meines Studiums. Bei niedrigen Drehzahlen haben 2-Ventiler jedenfalls die bessere Füllung gegenüber handelsüblichen 4-Ventilern . . . von Reibung IM Motor (LSx vs. EU-V8) mal ganz zu schweigen. So . . . du siehst also, so ganz gegen die Wand gelaufen bin ich auf dem Gebiet auch nicht.

Too bad to that engine some people cant afford parts for repairs and replace not a budget friendly. I'll prefer stay to 4cylinder 1.8 engine. Or maybe i think 4cylinder can kick a 5.5L?

kein Sternsinger, ein passionierter AMGler ;)....bei der Corvette gebe ich dir recht, die Motoren sind richtig geil, jedoch sind die im Vergleich zu den AMG Motoren im verbrauchsrelevanten Teillastbetrieb richtig schlecht (Wirkungsgrad), da die bspw nur 2 Ventile pro Zylinder und eine Nockenwelle haben und damit im Bereich Luftaufwand und Liefergrad deutlich schlechter sind ;) der Verbrauch dieser Autos kommt von den Überlandteilen, bei dene sie von ihrer Übersetzung profitieren!!

No that's definately a turbocharger this AMG engine is 5.5L TwinTurbo, and replaces the 6.3L (which is actually 6.2L) N/A...

Nothing from FCA is worth it. Chrysler's fit & finish, recalls, and overall engineering have always been garbage ! High output engines in a depreciating metal coffin !

What do you have, a C43? No point in sticking in this engine, it's very rare (only came in one car, the R172 SLK55), and requires a lot of work. Just swap in the M113 5.4L from the W210 E55, it's a direct drop in.

BlagoP thanks. I seen some drop in the E55 w211 supercharger motor. I can't imagine it be much harder. Plus I would like to keep it naturally aspirated.

real braucht mein R172, durchschnittlich 12L ,Autobahn bei ca.140KM/H so 10L, Stadt kann auch mal auf 15L hoch gehen. der Klang ist herrlich nie prollig, auch wenn die Auspuffklappe offen ist.
