Season 4 of My Hero Ultra Rumble is finally here and along with some buffs and nerfs is the arrival of Catastrophe (Assault) Shigaraki. After playing this character for a bit I really think he’s a lot of fun and pretty solid but by no means broken. Hope you enjoy my first impression matches with the new Assault Shigaraki.

I really do like seeing your gameplay but I’m just gonna remind you, Shig got a special action that also does damage, lowers enemies defense so they take more damage, it comes out just as fast as Toga’s melee and it has a decent reach so a lil movement capability. With his new skill set, his triangle is very crazy, literally melting said person who got their defense lowered.

The way I see it, you can't really compare the skill sets just because they belong to the same character. They're both suited for different playstyles that different people may prefer, and both have strengths and weaknesses against each other. Assault Shiggy has his vertical mobility and the ability to hit people in the air, but the range of both his alpha and beta are shorter than the default Shiggy's alpha, meaning on flat ground against a maxed out Strike Shiggy, he could still struggle. Default Shiggy also still has a larger area coverage with his beta, but the Assault one can aim it from afar and use it twice - which in close quarters like inside buildings can really mess people up As for the gamma, again the vertical mobility is amazing, BUT, in terms of general manoeuvrability he is a lot less nimble and zippy. Default Shiggy's gamma can allow him to be more elusive and squirrely, freely changing direction while still covering the same distance as Assault Shiggy can. (Plus the ability to deal massive true HP damage, insta-killing people who are plus ultra on low health. Assault Shiggy's decay tick damage doesn't really make a dent in someone's hp, though it's cool that it's a feature.) Overall I'm not giving up his default kit personally, I love the stealthy ambush potential and playing elusively, but the new skill kit is great for people who like playing characters like Bakugo or Denki as Assault Shiggy is pretty similar to them both. Also this is a very minor thing but Assault Shiggy doesn't backflip when you jump and use his alpha like default Shiggy does, and I've actually used that tactic a lot to make a very quick get away down the mountain, or off a building as it allows him to fall faster. Just another nimble feature that default Shiggy has which makes the new one feel less zippy.

As a Dabi, I was happy to hear i can self revive. I'm a walking nightmare But in my honest opinion, Season 4 has been an overall improvement. Assault Shiggy is fun to control (i dont have him, but I used toga to play as him) And I dont know how I feel of aim assist reverting back to Season 2's. Like half of me likes it cause I was a monster with Assault Midoriya in the first 2 seasons, but half of me liked it better when it required skill to aim

I'd like to give a formal apology to the Shield Shigaraki I spent four minutes 1v1ing today. He downed me and clearly did not read the patch notes because he seemed very confused when the Dabi he downed resurrected and smacked him in the face. On a more serious note, the aim assist on console has been horrendous to deal with. I know we did not suddenly get an influx of cracked Endeavors and Compress players who can beam me down in an instant or stun lock me with the marble.
