In the original script the half-Cybernaut Kane was to be enticed outside by Steed and then got stuck in hot,wet tar. They changed this to the quick setting plastic idea borrowed from the 'Doctor Who' story 'Wheel In Space.'

My favourite ever scene from the New Avengers. Unfortunately, Steed's killer punchline is missing from the clip, which is what really makes it a classic. Having shown Felix Kane the label on the aerosol, Steed wryly comments "One hundred and two..." while the evil villain blows a final fuse 😉
