Great video Will. Do you keep them in for 2 cycles and then bring the rams out? By doing that do you get 99% of them tupped? I want to do 2 cycles but have always done 3 and just not brave enough to drop it to 2 and be strict on that. I know it would compact the lambing a lot better too.

Yes so they go in for 2 cycles and 1 with a commercial ram afterwards in the a flock

Ow do Will, daft question.. I have a wether in with my ewes as well as my actual tup, the wether was banded first thing as normal but he is mounting the ewes and they are standing for him.. would you expect to see that from a wether? Also will it effect the ewes standing for the actual tup? Cheers

If both balls were dropped when banded then nothing to worry about, I have seen plenty of wethers behave this way even ewes will jump one another when in heat occasionally

Presumably they have different colour raddle, so you an see how many, and maybe which, each have tupped. I reckon this will tell you who is the ‘alpha male’.

We used to do this but do to shed space we need to know when they got tupped rather than who tupped them. So we change colour weekly so I can bring them in in batches

While logical, I don’t believe it is legal to close public footpaths. In fairness, no note was left on that gate mentioning why the gate and trailer were in that specific arrangement. Also in fairness, I don’t imagine it’s necessary to bring paper and pen and tape for a note on tithe gate, so those supplies weren’t handy. It’s entirely possible the walkers didn’t realize they were affecting your flock movement plans, either. Still, I thought it was common sense to put gates back the way you found them….sadly, common sense isn’t common…..
