@@dancelens There has been already a very long discussion about - started many years ago. Hopefully BMD will implement this one day, as I really can't see any reason for the default behavior. As a bit of a workaround I have set in user preferences > color > Automatically Cue to 9999 So if you are using arrow up or down on the keyboard to jump to the next clip it will jump right into the middle. Better than nothing.

This is great info! Do you have a video on cutting and pasting a range of a clip using the in and out point at the source clip?

Edit - I was mistaken - Fixing here - No video on it, but it works the same as Avid. Mark in and out on the timeline - command C, clear your I/O marks with X. Go to a new location with playhead to paste and command V. This will grab all the clips without selecting them (making them orange).

Essentially, I edit in on 2 screens, often in full screen timeline mode. Sometimes when I’m watching my edit, I want my playback monitor to be bigger and my bins to disappear. This can happen just fine with full screen/Cinema viewer mode, but let’s say I want to make some timeline adjustments with the Cinema viewer open, many functions like add edit and ripple trim don’t work until I deactivate Cinema viewer mode. It’s really not a huge deal for a lot of people, but right now I can’t afford a 3rd monitor for constant full screen playback, and this functionality would make my personal workflow a lot smoother and more enjoyable.

There must be a lot of editors out there that leave a lot of unedited clips at the end of their timeline. Then just use the in and out rage to set the part of the timeline they want to export for Blackmagic to go and change the behaviour in the first place. As some who users 3 point edits the old way is the bomb.

I think the paste to playhead was set as the default after many many confused new editors didn't realize they had an in point on the timeline and didn't know where they pasted to.

That's a great question. I actually don't know the answer. I think it will keep them if you overwrite the new install. But have never done that. I would hit up all the 3 dot menu's and export settings so you at least have a backup.

Thanks for the video! So you finally answered another question I have had about pasting clips. I copy and paste clips constantly, but the only way I could see is to paste the clip into the same track and then drag it to a different track. Now I see the alt contr for auto track selector, but that seems incredibly cumbersome to have to do that every time. Is there a way so that I can just copy something, select the track I want to paste and paste it in that other track? Thanks!

Thanks yes - Alt click the track selector is the way. That's basically selecting the track to paste to. Alt click again and it goes back to all of them on to help maintain sync. I set this to a custom keyboard shortcut with the number row. 1-9 for video tracks 1-9 to turn on/off. All on or all off with the 0 and - on the number row.

For full-time editors - I use and suggest the M2 Max computers with 64GB ram. The M4 base chip is amazing too, but twice as long export speeds. I can't comment on windows configurations.

Yes - you want to mark in and out on the timeline - then drag from the effects pannel to the timeline viewer and use "place on top". That's how I restrain/3 point edit any generator.

If a Compound clip is opened then wherever the playhead is present, it is not present over the exact compound clip in Da vinci resolve...any explanation and maybe solution for this ?

I'm not sure I'm following the question. However you can think of compound clips as if they are just another timeline. The timelines are independent of each other, just one is getting wrapped up when its nested, or compounded.

If only Davinci added an Avid-style copy-to-source-monitor, this would make all of this redundant and a whole lot simpler! You could just set a new in-out from what was copied (or cut) and patch it however you want...

Ah yes - that is a different thing - in here we just go to the clip board with i/o ranges. This might be worth posting on the bmd feature request forum. They recently added the ability to clear the source monitor history, so they're always updating things.

BlackMagic dev team not so awesome.There are so many things people have requested over the years that have gone unheard. and all they want to do is update the Cut page.. I would use the Cut page if you could zoom in and out. Not being able to zoom in and out like melts my brain it's so disorienting that I just don't use it. ALSO, on the forums everybody's answer to basic stuff is "use fusion". Hey I want to have motion blur for my clip Transform on the edit page. MAKE IT A FUSION CLIP . and then you go into Fusion and all the keyboard shortcuts and navigation is not consistent so you're constantly clicking Fit Graph to Window in a tiny little window trying to do animation. SO FRUSTRATING. Just let us do Motion Blur on the Edit page.

Thank you, I know they are hearing us. It's just they have to make calls on what gets addressed, or when,. Regarding your motion blur pain point - the simpler method I have been using is 2 parts but easy. 1 - render in place the clip with all moves, effects. 2 - color page - motion blur panel the same as the noise reduction - use that with the slider. its fast and done (with studio version).
