Nice review 👌 I've upgraded my hifi to some pretty high end gear. Currently running some Monitor Audio Platinum 100 MKII. But do you know what, for all the extra money I've spent on upgrading Amps, speakers etc, by far my most most favourite speakers were my Monitor Audio Silver 300 6G (and a far cheaper Cayin tube amp). I do not know what it is about the Silver range, but they make everything you listen to sound just so damn good. They're not speakers you sit and listen to analytically, but they just make music so much fun. If you've never heard the Silver range you owe it to yourself to audition them. They are gems of a speaker.

Its funny, they are really great. I think once you hit a certain tier the improvements become more incremental. Alternatively, they might just be really fun speakers!

Great review, but how does these sound at 60-70db, like night time listening?

Thanks for a very good review. I've had my eye on this model for some time but as my room is only about 17 x 12 feet I'm concerned about possible bass boom as they would have to be close to furniture and 12 inches max from the wall behind. Just wondered if you have any issues with bass boom seeing that you speakers are positioned close to wall and furniture?

The bass boom can be mitigated with the included foam bungs. Though, they can be placed closer to a wall than you would think. I love these speakers.

I've had the silver 300 g6 for two years now with a Yamaha as2200, in a similar size room to yours 12inches from the wall and the rear lower port bunged, and they are just fine. Nowadays it's the way some modern music is mixed, overly bass heavy, but that's why you have, or should have, tone controls, they are great speakers, go for them.

So do you have them paired with CXA60? I am looking on some info about the amp, as I feel it really lack the details I was hearing with all other amps I tested.

You should probably listen to it if you can prior to making a judgement on it. Admittedly though, the cxa81 and the newly released mkii would be better options.

Did you have a chance to demo these with the Rotel A14mkii? I’m considering this one or the Roksan Attessa to pair with mine. Also in Walnut, thanks to this review. Love them.

Alas those two reviews were years apart. But if I pulled from memory I woukd pick the Rotel over the Attessa. The Rotel also has tone controls. The Attessa looks better.

While there will be an improvement, it may not be as night and day as you would hope. I heard the bronze 5 years ago breifly and they were awesome. The Silver 300 certainly look more upmarket though.

Hmm, aesthetics aside, going bronze would save a ton of cash.

But they are no Dali Opticon 8 MK 2 or Rubicon, these are more impressive than Monitor Audio in the Bass department...then again also more expensive. For under 2500 $ you are hard pressed to find a better speaker than the Silver's. The Polk R700 would probably come closest.

Great review, thanks for taking the time. I'm about to purchase a pair in walnut.....I just need nudging to pull the trigger. BTW, 'wave guide'? Let's call it what it is, it's a grille. I do hate it when speaker manufacturers make up terminology for things that already have perfectly adequate names.

I'm really rather pleased with my purchase having had them a week now. My concern that at 3" the mid range driver might not be up to snuff was put to bed, it does the job perfectly. Mine too are about 6" from the wall and sound great though if pressed, I'd say they are a little bright during some vocals but not enough to spoil the overall enjoyment of the music. @@0102studio It's a Yamaha RX-A3060 that I bought last year but only installed last month. My room isn't very large, roughly 12.5x12.5 feet square. I was initially looking at the M/A Gold 300 7G but thought they'd be too large/powerful for my room size. I have to say, the walnut veneer on my 300's is just beautiful.
