The Town Meeting was a unique form of local participation in government that became popular in New England. This video goes into detail as to how this phenomenon developed, its limitations, and why New England and not other colonial regions. Overall I want this to be a background video for when I start talking about Shays' Rebellion and the Constitutional Debates later on.

This video has a highly oversimplified description of who the Puritans were. When I say a branch of the Church of England, it's only half true. They saw the Church as too Roman Catholic and wanted to remove all Catholic symbolism and tradition to make it decidedly more Protestant, and they would have hated it if they heard me calling them a mere branch of the Church of England. But the purpose of the video was to give you guys a foundation of town meetings to give you a better foundation of New England society in the 1780's. Anyway, by that point the religious qualification for land had long since been dropped and Colonization was available to any Church of England member or other Protestant (much to the Puritans' dismay)
