Thanks for sharing this! After having seen the demonstration, I come to the conclusion that there is way too much flex in those ramps, and that , over time, they will crack and break apart! The middle of the video showed the smaller ramp having been bent already! Saved me a bundle. Thanks!

Thanks so much for this I am buying a Thule EasyFold XT bike rack for my electric bike and would have bought the short rack if I hadn't seen this video. I can see how much easier it is with the longer ramp and as I am now in my 70's want to make it as easy as possible so this has been really helful. Thank You

Thanks for this video. The video shows the ramps bending as gives the impression that this rack is too light weight for fat tire ebike like RadPower. How about show how two 75lb ebikes look mounted and describe how they travel down the road.

I wish more manufacturers would start designing/making more heavy, e-bike specific racks. This looks like it could work for my Aventon Aventure, but would prefer something that is officially listed as compatible

I'm wondering if it would be strong enough for the Aventon Abound, the cargo ebike.

Thanks for the video, I just purchased this rack and longer ramp, so I watched this to get tips when I use this the first time. One thing I noticed is that I don't think you are getting the ramps locked into the rack completely. If you push hard and wiggle the ramp from side to side a little it will insert into the ramp deeper and be more secure.
@evolutionaryTom

Excellent point, David. I did figure that out by the time I made my last video on the rack. I wish it would have been more obvious to me so I wanted to make sure others knew. I'm probably slower than most but I take instruction well. :-) Thank you for the insight. I'm sure someone will read your comment and it will help them. -Tom

I wish Thule would make a Ramp for the T2 Pro XT...I have the exact E-bike, your handle bars are different than mine. I take off the Battery the Topeak bag and I load it onto the back of my Raptor which is way higher than your SUV..Murder on the wrists. My bike weighs around 82lbs and 58lbs without the battery and bag. Great bike but the Battery cost is ridiculous. Thanx for the video Stay Safe.

The shorter ramp is a great idea but there is no way to keep it from moving side to side. I am 5'2" and weight 115 pounds. Getting my 54lb ebike on the rack is quite challenging. I reached out to Thule to see about a way to lock it in place and they just referred me to a video. My bike does not stay in the track because the ramp slides around. I had the Thule 2T ProXT. It was great but no way could I lift my bike. Ridiculous that there was not a ramp made for it. Had to buy this new rack at $800. Shame on Thule for not making different racks more compatible.

Thule makes some quality components. That said, there appears to be a significant amount of sag under the weight of your bike when rolling it up the ramp. Hopefully that ramp will withstand the test of time.

There is some sag, Robert. I'm hoping the smart engineers did that on purpose. Fingers crossed. -Tom

I very much appreciate your thoughtful and informative boots-on-the-ground evaluations of your products and the the breath and scope of your accessories list is spectacular and convenient. This is a great service to us all -- well done! I write because I just purchased this EasyFold rack as well as a Magicycle e-bike. I've had both only a couple of days. Your Juiced bike and my bike both weigh 75 pounds w/battery installed, and along with your attached accessories I'd have to believe you're pushing 80 pounds. Of course EasyFold's listed capacity is 65 pounds per position/bike (I called them and they admitted it wasn't a hard and fast rule) so I'm comforted that you've had no problems transporting that extra weight! Has this actually been the case -- that is, your confidence in the rack being able to fudge a few extra pounds? - Mike

Thanks for the very kind comment, Mike. I appreciate it. I have had NO issue with our biked on the rack. When traveling I always remove the batteries and if it is anything other than to a local trail, I would remove the bags as well. Both of them are on a Topeak mount so they come off very easy. I think I'm really close to the rack's advertised limit with both bikes on there. I think the lawyers limits are different than what the engineers would advertise. That's why I agree there is some fluff built into those numbers. But again, I've never had an issue or a concern. Thanks again! -Tom

You're welcome. Engineers and lawyers -- exactly -- you speak the Gospel, Brother Tom. Anyway, I'm just waiting on my fat tire straps to swing my baby on the rack. Hmm, I bet in the S&M world that means something different. ;-)

William Meyer 1 week ago Does the lock mechanism on the receiver portion of the rack get gummed up? Seems that a simple lock like this, located so close to the pavement, will be subject to getting fouled up by road salt, dirt, etc. and will soon cease to function. When you tighten down the knob all the way, is that sufficient to keep the rack solidly attached to the receiver without locking it?

Thanks for the heads up. Based on your videos I purchased both the RCS and this Thule rack six months ago and have ridden over 1000k to get some exercise since Covid-19. More than once, I have noticed the stock ramp out of position when stored. I'm not sure if it was a risk of falling out, but that makes me less concerned about having to store the extended ramp in the back of my Equinox. I've had two flats so far, but I'm still on the first set of tires. Considering going tubeless and foregoing knobby tires since I rarely go truly off-road. Would like your thoughts Thanks again for your videos.
@evolutionaryTom
@evolutionaryTom 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice comment, Mark. I don't want to jinx myself but I haven't had a flat yet. I do have the tuffy liners and slime in each tire though. I have zero experience with a tubeless setup so I can't really help with that. I rarely go off-road as well. Do you think the bike helped with the Covid exercise routine? I'm curious about that. -Tom

@@evolutionaryTom my local bike shop talked me out of installing the Tuffys I bought. Saying they sometimes cause flats by the edge cutting the tube. Seems to me that if the are installed properly that would not likely happen. I'm going to required Tuffys on my next set. Thanks again.

I'd say so, KB. That's an educated guess though. Thule is a high quality company. I'd just be careful about covering up the view of your taillights for safety reasons. That's a long haul. Thanks for the compliment!!! -Tom

Hello, thanks for the details of your videos and review if the Thule easyfold. Can you tell me if it might be possible to add an additional bike to the rack? Like an add-on for a third bike? O perhaps include a smaller kids bike between the two slots for the ebikes? Thanks
@evolutionaryTom
@evolutionaryTom 3 жыл бұрын
Javier, I'm not aware of anyway to put a third bike on there, even if it's a kid's bike. The slot is pretty tight but if you try it and it works, please let me know. I have not seed an add-on accessory for this rack either. -Tom

hello i have a himiway cobra e bike and i bought the Thule EasyFold XT E-Bike Carrier. the bike wont clamp with the small clamp utilizing the 1st rack closest to the vehicle.do you think i can utilize the 2nd ramp to put the bike on because the longer clamp will fit on the frame of the bike. please respond. thank you very much.
@evolutionaryTom
@evolutionaryTom 2 жыл бұрын
Rodney, Sorry for the slow response. Your comment was snagged by the KZbin filter for some strange reason. I'm not sure I understand your question but let me try. If I get it wrong, shoot me another explanation. The only difference in the ramp is the angle of approach and making it easier to load. That goes for whichever rack you put the bike up on. As for the clamp, the clamp jaws are the same but one stem is longer than the other. It would be possible to use two longer clamps as long as it would keep the bikes separated from each other. Sometimes in order to find a good place to clamp onto, you might need it to reach further. I'm guessing that's what you're saying. -Tom

looks like the longer rack is well worth it. question: I have 2 pedegos with 2" tires. but after loading one I find the pedal from the 1st one mounted gets in the way of the next bike. how do you place the pedals to prevent the pedal from one bike interere w loading the 2nd bike
@evolutionaryTom
@evolutionaryTom 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ronald. Have you tried to point the bikes in the opposite direction of each other? Face one to the left and one to the right. That should offset the pedal cranks so they aren't at the same point of each other and causing the pedals to get in the way. -Tom

Good video, not for me. I’m glad I saw this video. I almost bought this, but I can already feel my 100lb body being crushed by my 75lb e-bike falling on me, destroying my body and the bike. Think I’m just going to stick to my 5x3’ piece of plywood to roll the bike into my suv.
