Chris, I really appreciate you giving the rundown on these new units. As an avid salmon fisherman, making an upgrade from the x4d is super tempting but man, that’s quite a price bump. I love my fish hawk but I can’t see a full upgrade benefiting me enough to justify the price. Thanks for showing the ins and outs tho!

So many people leave their probes on the riggers while docked. This is actually gonna be a big PITA.

Why? You can still leave it on your rigger at the dock. Just charge it up after 10 or so trips.

If I am not mistaken you can also just purchase the probe and it will work with the x4 system.

For someone who is out 6-8 times per year, I can’t justify the cost to upgrade. I have the X4d and it has been flawless. Maybe down the road, but having more reels and equipment is more important since mine works.

You said in the video you change batteries 3 times a year. How many trips does that equate too Trip duration ??

presently I have 2 downriggers, high and lower diver and a 5 and 10 leadcore. I would like to add 2 more lines. What would u recommend? I leaning toward 2 more divers. I take it a 1 and 3 setting on the divers would work? THank you

If you're comfortable running two more divers than I would say that's a great plan. Otherwise I'd add a 200 and 300 copper.

That's just it, I'm really not sure. I fish with a no experience crew, so I do it all. Diers are relatively easy to set up, but I worry about tangles with the other lines. With the additional lines, I would have 2 more planer boards to deal. That's my quandary.

Chris, great video. Would you be interested in making a video about a fish finder? What do you use and what features you would want in a finder? Would a live scope help with trolling? I am in the market for new one. I'm probably not the only one with all the new technology avavailable. Soo many choices. Thanks for all your help. I hope you didn't need stitches on the finger. You brought up that if you went out to your boat and the batteries in your probe are dead you can just put this one on the charger and then 25 minutes I believe you said it would be charged that probe would not stay on that charger very well at all running about out to your fishing spot

I have a 20 minute ride from my marina to Lake Michigan, so for me it's fine. Others may have to wait at the dock for it to charge.

X4d is now discontinued. I just switched over to one 2 years ago and I sure as hell hope the new probes work with it. If not, I’m not gonna be very happy if lose a probe or 2.
