Jacob talking about "no such thing as lab grown rubies or emeralds" when he literally makes watches with synthetic sapphire cases. It's the same chemical, corundum (α-aluminium oxide), just as synthetic and natural diamond are both the same allotrope of carbon. It's clearly easier/cheaper to synthesise - sapphire watch glass is near ubiquitous, but it's the same shit as the mined stone nonetheless. Also not discussing the environmental and humanitarian concerns that might push the newer market towards lab-grown or the supply-side market failure that drives up the price of natural stones lmao.

Ruby can absolutely be created in a lab.... There are legitimate uses for Ruby beyond just how it looks, and lab grown varieties satisfy those demands quite well... So to suggest that Ruby can't be created in a lab and that what's being made is merely colored plastic is a hilarious lie to try and perpetuate, in a world where literally 2 seconds of searching can disprove that statement. Those are the kind of remarks that then bring into question, everything he says, and when someone is completely full of shit once.... that's most often not an isolated incident. I'd love to be into these pieces, but when he tells one bold faced lie and assumes I'm that stupid, why would I give a shit about anything else he says? They look nice, but for all we know its colored plastic and a hidden battery, the salesman has no credibility and that's what we're buying.

Missed you so much guys! Thank you for the new video❤
@tincoandringa46307 ай бұрын
I don't like how Jacob dismissed lab grown rubies as "plastic". The only difference between a lab grown ruby and a lab grown diamond is that it's much harder to grow a diamond. If you want mined rubies that's fine and Jacob's your guy, but he shouldn't act as if they're not real or of lesser quality in some way. They have provenance, and people who are interested in investing their wealth value that sort of thing, so just own up to it. They could've made those watches out of synthetic rubies, and they'd be just as beautiful, and they could have even picked more beautiful crystals. They didn't because they prefer their watches have sentimental value. No other reason, so don't lie about it.

Ruby and Sapphire both are grown 'synthetically' We call emerald (synthetic barrel) and Ruby (synthetic corundum) a there are actually a variety of ways in which they can grow to. There is flame fusion, flux grow, add hydrothermal grown. I'd still pick a natural gemstone any day over the lab grown for obvious reasons
