I have one, a black 2016 XJR, and it is absolutely a monster. Though it doesn’t have the wood paneled interior nor any exterior chrome detailing. All replaced with “black gloss”. 🤦‍♀️ This was not one of Jaguar’s better decisions. And I intend to remedy it.

@@Pirustae 💯 correct 😏 However the peace of driving it, of stepping out onto the front walk and seeing this car in the park (driveway), a beastly fathomless black scrying pool, mean and graceful at once, maybe some mythical blend of Panther and Orca .. (quite melodramatic 😉) that’s when my bristling at the upkeep is …mostly.. soothed. Its more relationship than ownership. I suppose this is not unlike fine silk and wool apparel; there is some fuss to care for it, but the clothes return the favor, rewarding you handsomely for decades.. maybe more.

Incredibly, Jaguar no longer produce a single saloon. This XJ, the XF and the XE are all discontinued. The new all electric XJ seems to have been delayed or cancelled. According to the dealer I spoke to, you have the choice of three different SUVs and the soon-to be-phased-out F-Type. It's a bit sad. I think Jaguar have dropped the ball with their transition to electric. Used saloons from this era will surely become quite desirable.

I love the Jag so much... it's vastly more desirable than anything else in its sector. A8, 7-series, S-class, Bentley Flying Spur, Maserati Quattroporte, Porsche Panamera, even the Aston Martin Rapide wouldn't tempt me away from the Jag... V8, dark red on those 15-spoke wheels, with that creamy interior is THE combo to go for.

@@kickbuttowski398 nope, I still love cream interiors, I now have one in an E66 760Li Individual (which is Blue Onyx outside). Love the Jag too but they're still too pricey and I really wanted a V12, so picked up the facelift E66. Cream and dark red is a classic combo - whether on old Aston Martin V8s (Dubonnet Rosso), Rolls-Royce Silver Clouds, Rover P5B Coupés or the more recent 75, pretty much any Jag saloon, or the BMW E39 5-series... you can't go wrong with burgundy and cream.

Tbh it took me a few years to love the back end of the XJ, and as a lifelong Jag fan I tried. I wanted the front end of the XJ and the rear end of the XF and in 2011-12 I got it. Still, my first Jag was 2008 XF bought in 2017. The back end of the XJ finally clicked when I heard Ian Callum's description as like cats claw marks. I was sold and a couple of days ago bought a late 2012 XJ portfolio 3.0ltr supercharged with only 16000 miles on it.

he's right tho.. when I drove an S-classe I was absolutely amazed by the quality, the drive and everything. But then when I went into the XJ, my jaw just dropped. Every detail, everything the car does, is not far from perfect. I can't recall any other car that drives nearly as good as the XJ does. Maybe the 600 Grosser in it's days.

Mine is a 2013 Portfolio, still have it and still love it. Biggest problem is what do I replace it with? Tried all the usual German offerings, still prefer the Jag. Closest has been a Lexus GS450H, but still prefer the XJ!

My dad’s still got his 2011 Supersport with 30k miles (13 years). Still gets many looks and I love driving it and hearing that V8 roar and pop. Only modern features it’s missing is a 360 camera and CarPlay. It’s perfect the way it is.

If that was the case did the camera car a Range Rover keep up with him. The shots of the Jag driving past, how were they done? Did they go ahead stop, set up and then wait for him to drive past? Then pack up get past the Jag to do to next one? Don't get me wrong I love this video but don't see it being authentic.

​@@kb9072The Range Rover can certainly do 110MPH they probably used The Range Rover Sport for this race, that also has a 5.0 Litre or may have been the old 4.2 Supercharged V8 from the Jaguar XKR and XJR and every V8 Jag of that era
