Started in '85 with a brand-new but bog standard 9670 International COE. Wouldn't want a cabover unless it had the stand-up sleeper. Once you experienced the roominess of a Volvo 760 VNL, why would you want to go back to anything smaller??

Old school USA driver here... Wow. K/W should test market this in the States. Longer frame, double wide bunk, air ride steer axle... I would test drive it all over the USA for ya's if you want. Beautiful truck. Can't imagine it not being a top seller. The long hoods are sweet, but... sorta long in the tooth too. Need long wheelbase cabovers like this to mix up big truck varieties. This new model has to be as areodynamic as a Freightliner, or any USA areo conventional, imo. USA's modern truck drivers have no clue about cabovers since they have been gone for so long. I always liked them!! Aussie drivers be lucky for having these to drive!!

Having a long wheelbase defeats the purpose of having a cabover. Cabovers are used to make trucks more compact, thus improving maneuverability in tight spaces. If you're just gonna stretch the frame (something which I don't understand the purpose of regardless), then you might as well have bought a conventional truck. My two cents.

I’s precisely the “today’s technology” what makes the new trucks piles of useless sh!t ! Give me a truck with no computers whatsoever and a good old manual transmission and then let all the hackers in the world try hacking that truck ! I sure miss the days when long distance communication was a payphone in a booth and the only time bossman talked to you was whenever you felt like dialing the 1-800# from such payphone. Today every piece of junk, small or large, is talking to you and it’s got a mind of its own. The bossman calls you 24/7/365, even when you sit on the porcelain throne and they want cameras pointing everywhere. 🤮 I’m tired of the f’n “experts” like this woman in the video flopping her gums about her knowing what a driver needs and wants in a truck when all that she should know is what a driver needs in the rear portion of that cab at the end of a long day !

Out of all our Aussie built Kenworth models here in Melbourne, nothing beats the toughest looking truck on our highways, the K series! Kenworth is the truck of choice for most Aussie operators and I believe Australia is the only place that still builds the Cab Over K series and we do export them to other right hand drive countries as in New Zealand, nothing looks better when you see a Kenworth prime mover hooded or Cab Over pulling a 46 wheel triple road train, these Kenworths are made for Australia and built by Australians to Australian specifications, it looks like most of our American friends would like to see the Cab Over K being sold back in the USA and agree but at least all of you know that these great trucks are still being built and appreciated here in Australia! And if you get to take an overseas holiday especially while the Aussie $ dollar is so low come down here and spend a few days on our Hume highway between Melbourne and Sydney at least and take in all the great rigs pulling singles, B-doubles and trains here, there’s no comparison to those European shitboxes!

I can tell you are a KW lover but you are totally wrong on many things One thing in particular is that you call European trucks shit boxes - they are far from it in fact they are probably what inspired KW to lift their game and bring these K 200 into this century. For years KW have used the same design with little twitches of cosmetic upgrades but doing little to actually improve the truck like they had a ‘ smart wheel’ it did maybe 3 or 4 things and that was it and apart from that it was the same truck Volvo has for years been able to do a multitude of things via the steering wheel KW have always been HOT,NOISY and Rough to ride in and almost all the ones I’ve driven have the wheel offset to the seat and the right foot under the pedal has a block where’s as the Volvo is just a better seating position and is quiet the aircon WORKS THEN the sun visors in the KW are proper garbage with the sun being able to come through a multitude of holes and nothing on the drivers side -Volvo have a blind in front and on the side The doors on a KW do not seal allowing dust and heat into the cab Even egress into either vehicle is different you climb up a jungle Jim to get into a KW - 3steps inside the door ( not easy on a windy day I must say but still easier then a KW Also you assert that the KW cab over is used on road trains yes it is but take a look at the northwest of WA the predominate truck is the bonnet truck or the Volvo cab over very few K200’s are used except by maybe TOLL who use a few on the AN The HUME is not the whole country so perhaps they are used there to keep the units to max length but the rest of the country they are not as wide spread From my own perspective I would drive a Volvo any day of the week before I sat for 14hours in a KW as I KNOW that when I got out of a Volvo I would feel better then spending same amount of time in a KW - unless this new version really does have an improved aircon as EVERY SINGLE KW cab over I’ve ever been in all that gets cold are my fingers and the vents don’t help This is MY OPINION after spending countless hours driving both types of trucks in the a variety of applications but for you to just say that European trucks are shit boxes is just plain WRONG

@bertnl5302 жыл бұрын
@dave Gross vehicle lenght is not really an issue in the States. So they can make their trucks almost as long as they want. I think another issue is the daily checks that US drivers have to perform. Many times they have to check the engines and other "internal organs" on leakage and spillage of oil or other fluids. This is much easier on a conventional than on a Cabover. The hood weigths less and also you don't need to do a lot of work inside your cabine to prevent your personal belongings fly through the interior while tilting. You don't want a bottle or whatever crash your windscreen.

Australia has overall heavy vehicle length laws despite our Roadtrains. Then we have A triples of 28 footers.. I think the Maximum total length allowed is something like a 127 feet.. Just remember folks , thr way these drivers operate today tailgating. Your legs are the first thing on the scene. Every bump in the road goes right up your backbone. Pulling your self in the cab . Dr's love every minute of it. Why do you think we all went to conventionals. I owned a lot of KW K100E'S . (Not this old hand of 54 yes on the road) Run From Them Not To Them !

1:37 ✅️ But, can you make them pop/swing out as you had optioned on the last of the '200s?

Nice truck with a lot of goodies inside of it. Too bad the gov't regs wont let new cabovers built in the USA or even sold for that matter. The current laws have to be changed for new trucks like this roam the roads of the USA But have been seeing a lot of older cabovers on the roads lately

can you explain????

Love this truck. Awesome design improvements. Please talk KW into returning this idea to the USA.
@ruigomes67782 жыл бұрын
KW pay attention to the truck drivers, build it in Australia, and offer it here in US and Canada. Again IT WILL SELL in North America.
@shanemay37972 жыл бұрын
But you Yanks would extend the chassis and ruin the Aerodynamic benefit from Australian experience of gaining the MPG from close in Trailers. 😞 The US Auto workers unions would have a shit fit over Australian made vehicles on Nth American roads, just look at the 2000 on Pontiacs Coupes & Chevy SS Sedans( go buy one ASAP, YOU WILL LOVE IT) as well as the Mercury roadster of the late 1990's Plus Australia has overall length laws, despite our Roadtrains and Super B sets.
@ruigomes67782 жыл бұрын
@@shanemay3797 you might be right, some would extend them.. I would not because I pull doubles for pepsi as an owner operator with an 285 inch 379 peterbilt.

I think cabovers would sell in the United States if they built them like they do in Australia
