During WWII and Korea, professional athletes were drafted and actually served during wartime, interrupting their careers. It’s definitely unusual now, but not outside of the realm of possibility. Also, just discovered this channel today while I was in the middle of my LOSH read-through. 😊

Not just athletes but also some actors. IIRC, during WWI Jimmy Stewart served in the Army Air Corps, eventually becoming a Lt. Colonel.

The reason that Loomis lost his arm and Rokk lost his powers is due to a weapon that the Imskites deployed during the war. It turned the Brallians magnetic abilities against them. It caused them to either explode or stripped them of their magnetic abilities. Vi was sent to prison for objecting to the use of the weapon.
