Linkin Park was bigger than just Chester and as tragic as Chester’s death was (his death was one that hit me hard) the rest of the band have every right to want to continue on the legacy they helped create. Emily is the change in Linkin Park that nobody ever wanted to need and no she isn’t Chester and nobody will ever replace Chester but she brings in a similar energy, has a great voice and I’m open to a different era of LP. I still listen to original Linkin Park but I’m also excited to see where they go from here. Also I could definitely picture Chester singing this song and that makes me happy.

In many ways, the band themselves incorporated so much more of that true Linkin Park sound than Chester himself actually did. Now I’m not saying his voice isnt iconic, he’s my favorite rock singer of all time and LINKIN PARK is my favorite band. Because of Chester, it is my favorite band. But when you take a step back and you listen to their music compared to old music you can see that the style has not changed one bit.

Linkin Park existed a couple years before Chester joined. It's kind of Mike's baby, so I'm totally ok with them not creating a new band.

@curtywindley Linkin Park didn't exist before Chester joined the band. The band Xero was Mike's band. Chester was the one who idea it was to name the band Linkin Park since he drove passed Lincoln Park on the way to their original rehearsal room. They were called Hybrid Theory at the time and the record label wanted them to change their name since the record label had a different band called Hybrid. The record label also only wanted Chester but he refused to make a solo rock band without Mike, Brad, Joe, Dave, and Rob. Chester was loyal to them but they are not loyal to Chester except for Rob. If they were loyal then they would never have made her their singer since she is against everything Chester fought so hard just to live as long as he did.

I really don’t get anyone who says they should rename because of Chester’s passing. Yes he was the lead singer but he was not the one who created Linkin Park. That was and always has been Mike Shinoda. He created the band and got all the band members together that he chose including Chester. Chester was not Linkin Parks creator. As long as Mike is in there the band name being Linkin Park still has every right to be and definitely is Mikes choice to make. Plus the songs literally sound and have the LP vibe for sure so I don’t get people lol. LP was one of the first rock bands I ever listened to or whatever genre of music you want to mix them in. They could probably fall into multiple categories like light metal and heavy rock or just general rock or punk rock or whatever. Bottom line is it still sounds like LP for sure with Emily and she has a bangin voice like Chester did and definitely will bring LP to further glory.

With Mike Shinoda, still writing lyrics and the rest of the band for the most part still helping with production, I see this as an absolute win. Obviously will never get Chester back, but it still feels like LINKIN PARK and I’m really happy about that.

Things I want to say to all the people who are like "Its not LP without Chester" 1. You might as well tell me none of the other band members matter to you. Don't forget Chester was a final addition to the band. 2. The amount of bands who have gotten a new singer after their beloved original singer passed away is too great for me to list here. But like if Queen can get someone new after Freddie Mercury than anyone is allowed to do it. 3. Its not disrespect to Chester in fact I'd like to think he'd happy to see his friends doing what they love. If you watch the live stream concert Mike has the biggest smile on his face. I know when I die I want my loved ones to be happy and not live with the sting of losing me hang over them forever. Also Chester himself covered as front man for Stone Temple Pilots at one point. He would have no problem with this.

This was my first time hearing it as well and it was way more epic than I expected it to be. I'll pick this up on iTunes for sure. Also, the whole Meteora album is in my top-5 albums of all time. It's one of those albums for the longest time just never left my car. I always had it in there from the time I started driving in 2009 until just recently, I had a handful of albums in my car that I would cycle through continuously and Meteora was one of them. As for my favorite song...that's difficult...I'd have to say Somewhere I Belong, Lying From You or Breaking the Habit. The whole album is absolute perfection, but if I had to pick a song, it'd be one of those 3, surely.

My all-time favorite Linkin Park song is "Lost". When I heard that song when they first released it as an unreleased track from Meteora, I was literally getting ready for work and as soon as I heard Chester's voice, I broke down in tears. As for Linkin Park 2.0 (yes, that's what I call them). It took me just a day to get over the shock and I had to allow myself to be open to the idea of Emily not replacing Chester (no one can) but she allows his band mates to continue doing the thing that they love to do........which is to create music. She has a phenomenal voice and I look forward to whenever Linkin Park 2.0 comes to Florida, so I can take my daughters to see them. I was fortunate enough to see the O.G LP 11 times with Chester, my girls never had a chance to. Now, they get to experience some of what I experienced but for the next generation of LP 2.0 fans.

Greetings from Hungary, if you've looked at the live tour, the old era tracks was perfect for Ches, except some track i had feelings, okay good but - something missing from this performance. But i made a mistake, i try to found Ches on the stage, but he was gone, sadly. I need to change my mind and watch this in a different wiev. Emily was amazing, she do not try to meme Chester (he was a legend nobody can replace him), just respect the fans and enjoy this new part of LP. (the "Stop the Talk Show", the Demo Lyrics). the single Heavy w/ Kiiara and Linkin Park was the first time I knew a female voice was somehow going to be in the future cards for the band. We so nearly lost them, but this iteration is so far amazing.

Not many musician deaths have hit me as hard as Chester's (I was lucky enough to meet him and Mike on a tour they did months before Hybrid Theory came out, and they were both down to earth cool ass guys) but I think Emily was the perfect choice and imo if the band is happy about it we need to be also. The only band member who is not present is Rob Bourdon (drums) and currently Brad Delson is not touring with them (he’s still in the band) I LOVE THIS SONG!! I love Emily and this LP 2.0 and it’s a homage to Chester and the legacy. The fact they took time to mourn and welcomed Emily with open arms and to be there for fans is amazing and that it’s just a new era for them.
